Ios Daw Sync?
Can Cubasis or Auria pro sync to Aum, or anything else?
And if so, how?
Comments
I think Auria can sync with anything that can receive or send MIDI clock. Not sure about Cubasis, but I'd say it also does that.
Cubasis can only send midi clock. needs to be master.
Cubasis won’t respond to midi clock sync, but it can send it. I think AUM is the same, but AUM has Link.
If you use Midi Link Sync, Cubasis can provide the midi clock that gets converted to Link. Then you can use Link with your other apps that support it, namely AUM in response to your question.
Yes that’s the only solution, this is what I use between GarageBand and AUM and Midi link works really well.
Whatever does the audio should be the clock master, if you use MIDI clock to sync things up. Much easier and seamless to synchronize midi sequencing, beats in drum machines, to a slightly shifting stream of clock pulses (jitter), then to time stretch and compress audio to fit the same slightly irregular stream of pulses.
An alternative if it suits might be to record what you are creating into something like LP-5 or Launchpad then Link that to anything- then jam along till you find your next bit- then add it back to Cubasis
Auria has really good Audiobus integration. The AB transport can sync with Auria's transport, and it will even create a new track in Auria for the AB audio destination (multiple tracks for multiple destinations too). And for some reason I find that using AB for GeoShred with Auria as the destination works better than inserting GeoShred as IAA directly inside Auria.
If working with audio loops is an option and if you don't have too many tempo changes within your songs, Loopy HD is also quite good both as MIDI clock master and slave. When the tempo changes, it will play a time-stretched low-quality version and switch to high quality when the HQ background rendering is done, which usually happens quickly. Cubasis and BlocsWave can do realtime stretching too, so I wonder why they don't support MIDI slave sync.
Great suggestions for rendering to audio for better sync! I need to start doing that more.
Thanks!
I do a lot of remixes, and I need something I can dump stems into, but that I can also sync to other apps so I can write additional parts.
Sounds like auria to aum is the way to go!
