He used to go into the shop my ex’s cousin worked in (electrical shop in Cambridge), almost daily at one point to buy cassettes. This was in his later years. The staff were freaked out, and used to try and hide so they didn’t have to serve him so she’d end up doing it. She didn’t mind though, being a fan. She used to see him on the bus too, and a similar thing where no-one would sit near him.
That’s the sad reality of his mental illness, apart from fans trying to track him down, most people couldn’t cope with it. That stare....
