Tape recorder app req

Hi all devs and users!
I have an app request and I want to check if this kind of app already exists or if anyone else would like an app like this.
I have been using the OP-1 more and more in favor of the iPad mainly because it has a fast workflow which makes it a lot of fun.
What I really like about the OP-1 is the tape recorder function but it has a lot of limitations and I think an iPhone app would be a perfect match.
Some limitations are:

  • Only 4 tracks
  • No undo
  • Cumbersome to arrange patterns into songs
  • Only one project on disk

So what I would like an "easy" tape recorder app that can:

  • Record audio (from audiobus or audio interface or IAA), no need for midi
  • Have 8 tracks
  • One output for each track so it can be loaded in AUM for mixing and effects
  • Song/arrange/performance mode, arrange loops/patterns into songs/performances in a user friendly way

I know there are apps that do some of this and a lot more on the iPad (not iPhone), but I don't need a fullblown DAW, just an easy tape recorder iPhone app that makes music creation fast and fun.

Apps that I have tested that have a subset of these functionalies (and lots more):

  • Group the Loop
  • Cubasis
  • BM3
  • Quantiloop

Anyone else would buy this kind of app?
Maybe there's aldready an app like this?

Thanks

Sorry, but that sounds a bit like Garageband on iPhone 😉
The next best thing would probably be Audio Evolution for iPhone :)

    Absolutely not!

    It's worth many times that.

  • +1 for MultiTrack DAW

I have tested MTD for 2h now and I’m quite happy with it. The only thing I’m missing is the ability to sync record properly. I want to record a drum loop but it won’t start record in sync with the drum app. I haven’t found any sync preferences.

You might want to use Audiobus to route the drums in, Audiobus will stop and start MTD , ie, record enable MTD then hit play in Audiobus and it should start the drum app and MTD. You can set tempo and bars in MTD too make it easier to arrange in it.

  • @Strizbiz thank you. I’ll try that
