DLYM - Free chorus and flanger effect plugin (AUv3 / IAA / Audio Bus) - Beta testers needed

Hi everyone,

Here at Imaginando we have been receiving a lot of requests to provide a AUv3 version of DRC.

While we have been limited in many ways to make it possible, we have always been listening to you and we have been working hard to fulfil your requests. I believe we have finally some good news to you! No, it is not DRC AUv3 yet... that is still a long road to walk!

DLYM is a free chorus and flanger effect plugin and its architecture is much simpler than DRC so we have decided to start from here and port it to iOS.

There are still many uncovered scenarios and that's why we need your help to provide us some feedback about it. We are currently beta testing DLYM 1.0.0 on iOS which features:

  • Standalone app (compatible with Inter Audio App and Audiobus)
  • Audio Unit Extension

We would love to hear how it behaves on your setup, what is working, what is not, screenshots, etc. Things are NOT implemented yet:

  • state saving
  • midi input

If you want to contribute with feedback to DLYM please send me a private message with your TestFlight email.

Thank you all for your support as well as a special thank you to @RUST( i )K for his continued support of our work.

Best,

Nuno

  • So far I’m pretty pleased with the beta. Using in AB3 works fine. No problems. Same in BM3, Cubasis, GB and AUM.

Especially like the extra long cycles that can be set. For my taste, the controls could be just a bit larger in AU windows (or maybe scale up/down with the window size). Hope that helps.

I think that the most difficult compromise is to fit the UI in such small windows. I have made a decision for this one. I don't scale things and I keep the size of the controls as if it was being displayed on a phone, regardless of running on a tablet or on a phone.

My only complaint is the size on the iPad. Controls are small and there’s a ton of extra space. Otherwise works great and sounds fantastic.

I am kind of digging the small window, though.

And this FX plugin is awesome. Sounds great, lots of variety, simple to use.
Only took it for a test spin so far, but it has been rock solid.
I especially like the crossover function. Sort of the opposite of LPF in the delay path, which is what is usually offered.

I will to improve the scale on the iPad on the next beta

This is how it looks on the 8+ (Landscape/ Portrait)

  • I agree on the scaling of the controls. I'm on a Pro 12.9 and I still was fiddling a bit.

I'd like to see a longer delay time - I was disappointed that I wasn't able to create more polyrhythms. I'd like to see a sync for the tempo of the delay as well. Seems like this would be a simple enough add.

This is where it gets tricky. On iPhone you need to turn it landscape and double tap on the window to maximize. Scaling produces horrible results.

Yes, the sync for the tempo is easy to add. Regarding the longer delay, we need to discuss it internally. Thanks for your feedback!

  • Not sure if it was a certain patch I was using but I heard some zipper noises when changing delay time or rate or depth, I can’t remember which. Turning the knob caused noise not loud. I’ll try again later and see if it happens again.

  • Are you going to do that insane delay and that lush reverb after the you finish the chorus?

In our roadmap. This year hopefully!

  • There is a new beta (build 5) with midi control support and preset listing!
