From A Front Room In Suburbia - EP made in Gadget, GarageBand and Auria

These were all songs created as part of the Song Of The Month Club in the last couple of years. The first and last tracks were composed in GarageBand, the middle 3 were composed in Gadget (although they don't sound like typical Gadget tracks). Everything was mixed in Auria, with some additional instruments thrown in, such as Zeeon for the synth leads, some guitar, and of course my vocal.

  • Congrats on the EP release Richard.

Will take a listen tonight hopefully. (When did life get so busy?)

very nice - I like the vocal centric, sparse arrangement and the consistent atmosphere.
Still there's a lot of variation going on and it never gets boring - well balanced mix, too. :+1:
But most of all: true songs B)

Thanks for the listen, and the feedback - much appreciated :)

  • Congratulations Richard, I’ll have a listen later.

    Congrats Richard on your release.

  • I listened all the way through. Nice work.

  • Big congrats! Very jealous of your completioness, but you are an example to if-not-all-then-damn-near-most-of us....

Excellent work, RY. :) In particular, ‘Time’ and ‘The Edge.’ In general, the EP put me and NB from RTM, in mind of a Pink Floyd for today. A descriptive intended purely as a compliment. Oh, and great to hear some lyrics, too. The other part of the puzzle.

Well I very much want to hear that JG LP or EP sometime, there are some very promising tracks on your SoundCloud that I've earmarked for my future impressario efforts.

Thanks! Compliment taken as intended. Of course the Floyd did also write a song called Time, I believe they did it first in fact :)

  • Great stuff, Richard! Congrats on the release, mate!

  • Congrats! Now get to work on the next one ;)

  • Nice EP! I have a sweet spot for broken/harsch voices! And yours really sink in to me.

  • Congrats on the release and great job on the mixing and mastering, very consistent throughout. I love the “dream pop of a melancholy flavour” description. Even though Pink Floyd was mentioned already, I still get more of a David Lynch vibe as I think I committed before when you posted one (huge compliment from a huge David Lynch fan). Lynch gets very experimental in his music, but I think you capture the same feel in some way that’s hard to describe. Anyway, nicely done! Keep them coming!

  • I really enjoy your work, Richard, and compliment you on the release. I hadn't heard Show Me Something Wonderful before; I really like the toms on the verse and the vocal harmony on the chorus. You also have a really nice way of choosing and mixing your pad sounds to create a really nice atmospheric sound. Thanks for sharing!
