Deluge looks super interesting. The visual aspect is a big plus.

Hi @Palm, Interested in how you are using AUM to record the midi?

My setup is fairly convoluted and ever changing, but recently it's been Prophet 6 and Launchcontrol XL into the Pyramid, all via iConnectaudio4+. From there all midi and audio is routed to where it needs to go via AUM and various midi softwares (mostly handled by the iconnect box)
One nice thing about this setup is I can automate any parameters in AUM just by mapping knobs and sliders and hitting record on the Pyramid and moving things around. Program changes, filter sweeps etc. One could certainly set the pyramid up to record midi from just about any app that sends midi, but I've only ever tried this with Thumbjam and the incredible TC-11, both worked seamlessly. I guess being an organ player, I just need real keys.

Today I was playing with a Prophet 6 as the carrier for the brilliant new Dervoco, creating little chordal sequences of vocoded Patterning beats. Then, simply by switching midi channels on the fly, the Prophet keyboard becomes a controller for Zeeon, Layr and a few channels on a Waldorf Blofeld... Before I knew it 4 hours had flown by

Hehe, yeah gotta admit I'm eager to try one out. The pyramid suits my approach as I very rarely input midi with piano roll. I basically use it as a very advanced midi looper/mangler. I set up empty tracks with routings and rules and then build a track from the keyboard in live mode without really touching the pyramid much at all. Sort of like building clips in Ableton using a midi controller.

There are definitely some tricks up Deluge's sleeve that I hope the Squarp might take a cue from, but I gotta say, I love the simplicity of the Pyramid. I understand a lot of people have been wanting a hardware version of Ableton, and this more or less to fits the bill.

As someone who uses Ableton every day, I got the pyramid to take a step away from that mode of thinking and I've found it to be good for my brain and I think some half decent music is coming out of it too

It's been said many times before, but there's something inhibiting about endless possibilities of a thing like Ableton (I have thousands of unfinished project folders as evidence of this conundrum) For me, the less visual interface forces me go by ear, which I find works well for music.

That said, If the Deluge proves to be more conducive to an improvisatory approach, I'd certainly consider trading the pyramid in.

Yeah, I love the AUM Matrix. It's the heartbeat of my hardware /iOS Setup. I'd be lost without it!

I use a novation Audiohub with 3 x 4 slot USB dongles attached and the AUM Matrix routes all of those 12 midi connections.

The Digitakt currently handles midi sequencing duties.

How is the Pyramids mini USB connection? I'm really not keen, they always seem so fragile and had a few devices break with that as their weak point.

You should be able to just drag a square around the faders you want to select. Like selecting a bunch of files in Finder or File Explorer. Then you can use the + and - buttons to add to or remove from the selection.

I've got some working models of AUv3 midi effects now. Not sure if you will ever see Quantum in AUv3 form (its more of a host for 24 sequences), but you will see midi processors & generators in the near future from me - if only because its sample accurate.
