iOS drum app like Jamstix?

Is there a drum app like Rayzoon's Jamstix for iOS?

A few good drum sets and drum styles. Very important for me is time-signatures and changes like 6/8, 7/8. 5.4 and so on. Also like to have a free jam and humanize option so it sounds like a real drummer driven by Midi or Audio. Ability to build your own drum patterns en songs. Nice option would be 8 channels out to iOS daw. Anyone?

  • Nothing nearly so good as Jamstix.

IMO Luis Martinez’s (Lumbeat) apps (Rock Drummer, Soft Drummer, Funk Drummer, etc.) come the closest. They tick most of the boxes above, though it’s more like randomization than humanization, and I don’t believe has some of the subtle things like keeping track so that the drummer doesn’t have three arms and four feet. Only stereo master out, no separate tracks.

Drum Perfect Pro is also great, and has much of the humanization and some of the right-hand / left-hand tracking. It’s requires more pattern programming to leverage the realism, and that learning curve can be somewhat steep. On the other hand, you can import your own samples (can’t do this with the Lumbeat apps) to build your own kits. And it has multiple outs.

Patterning is definitely worth considering. It doesn’t tick many of the boxes, but is just so good that it shouldn’t be passed up by anyone looking to do drums on iOS.

  • The only app that comes closest is Drum Perfect Pro. Any of Lumbeat's apps maintain changes like 6/8, 7/8 etc. Also I like to use Drum Beats+ for the quick jam and where you could find some other time signatures. Not onty 4/4.

  • Thank you guys!
