Garageband convert midi track to wav?
Can someone tell please me if it is possible to convert a midi track to wav in iOS Garageband?
Stupid but i could not find it myself anywhere.
Big thanks in advance.

Only way to do that for now is to use the 'merge' feature. (tap on a track icon and select merge).
It will duplicate the session and render the selected tracks to audio.
(all selected tracks will be merged to one track, the midi-tracks will be removed from the new session).
Big thanks Samu!
As far as I know, not a direct way. You can share a song, which will allow you to save to dropbox or open-in to another app. The only thing is, it seems to share all of the tracks or the main mix. So if you wanted a specific midi recording, just mute the unwanted.
It would be nice if there was a direct audio export per track or per loop but thats neither here nor there.
The 'merge' feature is quite transparent but can create a load of extra sessions since the session is duplicated prior to merge. I would prefer a 'render to new track' option here.
Samu, i've merged but the result is an empty wav on a new track???
What Plug-In are you trying to merge?
Some AUv3s and IAAs have issues with GarageBand....
Often happens when rendering AUv3s, especially Roli Noise. The workaround is to create an empty audio track, then select both the MIDI track and the newly created empty audio track and merge them together - that usually works for me.
Sidenote, GarageBand has NOT yet been updated to take advantage of the improvements made to AUv3 handling on iOS. I suspect we'll see an update next week during WWDC'18...
Thank you all, lets hope it gets better or even gets a render to audio option.
Were these improvements documented anywhere? I’ve seen them referred to in passing but never anything specific.
Apple doesn't document everything in detail (they are prone to fail to document shaky behaviour, they mostly just specify security fixes) but the under the hood iOS improvements fixed AUv3 handling in Cubasis that affected Model D and Model 15 and a few other AUv3's...
GarageBand has not been updated fo reflect these fixes causing some AUv3's to fail rendering in GarageBand while they work with other hosts...
yes I gathered that, I’m just curious as to what change had to be made in Cubasis to leverage the improvements. Some new API? Or was it just a simple matter of updating the SDK to 11.3
Don't really know in-depth details but the bug in question was fixed in iOS11.3.1 so even though Cubasis was 'working' they had to wait for iOS11.3.1 release for the fix to fully work or something like that.
So obviously some AUv3 related fixes got baked into the iOS11.3.1 release.
Don't know maybe the developer release notes have more details but I don't have those at hand...
