BeatMaker 3: How to play an AU from a MIDI file?

Try hitting that play button in the right corner under 1 bar fixed and then try playing it. It looks like Beatmaker is playing in scenes mode and will ignore any midi from song mode, which is where you are.
No problem. I use BM3 like everyday so I’m familiar with its quirks but still learning a lot. I use scenes mode to push out ideas and then use song mode to export
Only thing I master in bm3 is buying sounds...
I just hope I one day have the patience to utilise them
That's what turns me off of BM3: such a steep learning curve!
Thankfully for us all, you didn't have that same attitude toward learning the Guitar.
