Tried with the adventure kid single cycle packs which also was greyed out.

Lucky you someone has converted all the AKWF's to Animoog Timbres :)
    https://www.animoog.org/database/timbres/

And about the concatenated version containing 294 timbres: “For those who don’t want to look through 4300 timbres, I concatenated Adventure Kid’s single cycles instead of looping them so each timbre now contains 16 unique waveforms which can be moved through in the X domain. This gives a lot more variation when using paths and orbits. The waveforms were concatenated in the order that they were organized originally.”

I’m afraid to update and lose my grateful dead presets .🤣

yah man. actually they are pretty safe, and I have backups if you need them.

I don't know how to select the sample length of a wave file, this is something completely new to me.

I have Auditor on my iPad, I don't know if it's possible to use this.

It's possible in Auditor long-tap on the ruler and select Sample Frames.
Them make a selection that is 16384 samples long, crop/trim and export it as 16-bit *.wav file.

I won't guarantee 'perfect results' as Animoog is not a 'sampler', but it will definitely be some unique noises :sunglasses:

    Thanks, @Samu !

Your degree of knowledge and contributions to this forum are priceless.

These are also greyed out and not usable.

Don't know what you're doing but they work perfectly here, go to Timbres tab, select one of 8 slots and double tap on the wav to load it...

The *.wav files are in the 'categories' folder in the Aminoog folder...

This update gives me hope that an audio unit update will come someday

I used to use the Animoog keyboard to control everything, it’s such a game-changing interface and there’s still nothing quite like it...

Same kb in Model 15 which is AU.

Yeah I know, I still think it would be a great AU. Between the keyboard and the filter-oscillascope drawing TV thingy, there really isn’t much else out there like it. Plus, for such a strange concept, it works remarkably well and intuitively

Animoog also has its own unique sound. Really nothing else is even in the same ballpark.

Still not ideal, but I guess it's better than no updates at all for iOS Animoog. One of the weirdest things now is that Animoog (other than the app icon itself) remains completely invisible to searches and in the Settings. It doesn't appear anywhere! However, as long as you know where your app is located, you can tap on it and fire it up.

And to gain access to the app's file structure, open the Files app, tap on the "On My iPad" icon on the left side and then find the "Animoog" folder. There you'll see "categories", "presets", "mappings" and "projects". The "presets" folder is (obviously) where you can drag app presets from others to install them. Restart your app after you add or delete folders containing presets.

Also, I noticed that it cannot handle subfolders, so make sure you only add folders containing presets, not more folders.

Just checking, do you have this enabled in Animoog's settings (in the Settings app)?

Eureka! I must've turned that setting off years ago and completely forgot about it. Thanks for the fast answer to this annoyance.

You’re welcome! I just happened to be digging around trying to diagnose a crash and found those settings, which seem to be enabled by default (as opposed to Mic permissions or notifications)

Yeah i got it sorted, thanks!

Is there any other wavetable creators than Auditor? Something more specialized maybe?

    Not that I know of.

  • Anyone know what this update is about?

  • I mean obviously it’s about....Z?

  • I did some rough experimentations once and Audioshare was good enough for trimming them to the right length.

I’ve always found most of the timbres to be pretty samey; it all comes out sounding undeniably like Animoog. Which is great, as it’s a unique classic. It’s probably the one synth that without a doubt I could immediately recognize.

Awesome didn’t know about the AKWF timber conversion, thanks for sharing.

There is a recent thread in the forum about Z, not sure if anyone has figured it out yet…

  • @ambrosiajam maybe XY pad…Z parameter? Who knows? What would that even be?
