Will i ever finish a track ?
So how many unfinished songs/ tracks do you have? i have far tooooo many.
Comments
haha! Thousands! I have a lot of completed songs too but I hear ya man. :-)
One day I will put out a 3000 cd box set called 'unfinished songs vol 1'.
Not only do I have many unfinished songs, a lot of them don't even have a name. I have song(1), song(2), etc etc out to about song 15 in MT Daw right now. Maybe we should share them with each other and see if the someone else can move them along? ;-)
@boone51 I've colaborated with people to finish unfinished tunes before. Might be easier with ios, on PC it was tricky cause everyone involved kind of had to have all the same software, a goal much easier achieved on ios for sure. I'd be down to try this with some of you guys. :-)
I must have a couple hundred 1 minute, one day I'll finish this, tracks :-/
@ryan sure. Why not. Lets do it. How?
@boone51 Well back in the day we used irc. lol! Maybe email for now. I can create a website later.
EDIT: Found a site for this. http://www.rifflet.com/
LOL. There is a website for everything, really!
Pfft. Back in the day we used floppies in the mail! Maybe dial into a BBS. Also, get off my lawn.
This could be fun !!!
@syrupcore Ha! I used to run a bbs. Haven't thought about that in a while. I think I still have Invision on some floppy's lol
A very easy way to share ideas is the use of Dropbox . I use it a lot and it works .
I also have lots of unfinished songs , sharing them is a good idea .
I think the Dropbox idea is a pretty good one. I'm going to make a public folder on mine now and ill share it here soon. I think this would be pretty fun. Intimidating, for sure, but exciting too.
How about soundcloud? Make an "unfinished" list, publish under creative commons, go to town.
I think all too often I get bored once i lay down the basics and have my play i get the itch for a new track.....opportunity costs I think it's called....the Beatles had the best idea keeping tracks around 2 to 3 mins.
Sixteen GB files on my iPhone - four or five of them are original WsIP, the rest cover songs. I would consider two of them 'complete' but the rest are on a merry-go-round of here-and-there. There are also a number of scratch files with interesting stuff I recorded from other apps with AB... future fodder!
I think Soundcloud is a little too public for noodles, more for stuff you want strangers to hear. Learnt that with my Take 1 demo for a friend.
I have a cure for this unfinished song syndrome.
Its called a deadline!
Here's a tip:

I have a couple in progress at any one time, but I don't think I would call those unfinished.
I used to save my half-finished ideas, but I found that I rarely if ever went back to them. And if I did I almost never used anything I found. Now I delete stuff and move on, new ideas more pertinent to where I am currently get me working. Revisiting the old stuff just reminds me of how frustrated I was![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
For me, tracks gets finished if they are good enough. Tracks that are half finished etc the magic stopped at that point. When the flow is on the track almost writes itself and I cant move on until it is finished. You then look back and think "where did that come from.."

Same here !
This is why I'm not buying gadget. I have enough apps to create songs.. So need to get on and complete songs rather than noodle about. (I can noodle to, but would prefer to noodle toward songs!)
I have many, but we record as a band once per year, so most of the ideas go into our Dropbox folder, then we all listen to each other's ideas and pick what we'd like to pursue, then keep refining as a band while together. We all used to live in the same state but are now scattered around the US, so that one week in the summer is when it gets done. Some unused ideas are put in next year's folder, most aren't.
I love GarageBand for getting those ideas I have while driving down very quickly, figuring if 100 ideas lead to one worth pursuing that's good.
A lot.......I use my iPad to develop riff ideas, and putting finishing touches on them usually leads to a clip to share with a friend, and then that pretty much ends it and I'm onto something else. Don't do it for love or $$, so it's ok to leave them. Turnarounds are the death of my riffs.
