Lol. Sorry. I did mix them up until recently but that's not your fault. Looks very cool and free too? We're spoiled
Maybe to much reverb on the shirt?
Thanks, it’s all good, I washed it and it’s looking (and smelling) splendid.
More good news, Brice Beasley made a bank of initial/starter presets for people to use as nice starters to create their own presets!
So this is iPad only?
No
Oh, great!
28 or so MB I think, so it goes on my Phone!
Guys - I've been busy the last week or so and haven't chimed in here. Matt was nice enough to let me beta test Synth One a few weeks back. I'm about to say something contoversial:
Synth One sounds better that Synthmaster One.
I got beta access to both within a day or so of eachother, and every time I was debating which one to mess with, I always chose Synthmaster. I was also always frustrated which always led me to firing up Synth One instead and being WAY more inspired and having much more fun.
Synth One is a phenomenal achievement, but what blew me away was the SOUND. It sounds just brilliant - full, rich, and all the intangible adjectives.
Matt - you and the AudioKit team deserve all the accolades for this release. Can wait to see what the public at large can do with this beast of a synth.
It does not surprise me at all. You don't always get what you pay for.
Really looking forward to this.
I'm looking forward to this one even thought it at first glance seems to miss two of my favourite synthesis tricks, oscillator-sync and pulse-width modulation, ring-modululation and cross-modulation/fm would be a bonuses
I hope the arp/sequencer can be used as modulation source......or at least have velocity settings which then control parameters.
Nicely done!😄
The app store version? Yes.
The code can run on an iPhone. It just needs an interface that fits on the smaller screen. Hopefully, a developer who wants to get involved will take ownership of the iPhone version. It would be a great opportunity for a seasoned iOS developer who wants to get involved in music apps to be part of this historic iOS project. Heck, we would probably make anyone who wants to take on that responsibility an AudioKit Core-team member.
Hopefully, someone does that instead of spending a week slapping an iPhone interface on the code and profiting off everyone's hard work without sharing with everyone else. That would be hugely disrespectful to all the dozens of people who volunteered their time to make this code.
It's a lot of extra bandwidth of time to maintain an iPhone version. But, would be an easy side project for a developer who wanted to contribute back to the iOS music community (or possibly looking for a resume builder or bragging rights -- being party of iOS music history!) 👍🏼
That's very nice and flattering to say. 😊
To manage expectations: Synthmaster One is technically superior to AudioKit Synth One in every way. It would take years for Synth One to have all the features and sound design possibilities of Synthmaster One. Synthmaster is an amazing achievement, and their development team is top notch!
What AudioKit Synth One brings to the table:
There's also downsides to open-sourcing so much of this, including introducing more bugs, long development cycles, and growth in directions that may or may not appeal to you.
Now that I've spent so much time building this app (many sleepless nights), I'm stepping aside to let the community take it where they want. Rather than let my own ego dictate where it will go, I'm letting it free. It belongs to the people now. Marcus Hobbs (creator of Wilsonic) is taking over as lead developer, leading it into the next open-source chapter. Anyone will be allowed to make contributions to the app. Enrich the lives of thousands of musicians by adding to the project. I'm excited to see where everyone takes it.
Enjoy,
Matthew - you've done an incredible job, and are extremely humble and modest.
I wasn't comparing the capabilities of Sythmaster One to Synth One - there they are extremely different beasts. I was simply comparing based on the richness of tone, and frankly Synth One has it hands down over SM1 to my ears. For me (again, my opinion only), SM1 sounded thin and weak whereas Synth1 had this fullness that just grabbed me and made me want to keep messing with it. And honestly, isn't that what you want out of a synth?
yes, someone please use that shrinking machine from , Honey I Shrunk the Kids; and make it
fit the iphone, because this synth is awesome. the ipad version is amazing already. I can’t wait
to see where it goes after release.
Sorry, man - I don't have a baseball and everything I try just explodes.....
hahaha I’m coaching my kids little league game tonight. I’m not much of a coach, but I have acess to plenty baseballs ⚾️
Oh, I could have sworn it was going to work on the iPhone as I had an official reply to a comment of, Oh cool that qualifies to fit on my iPhone. I’m sure they were just busy and misread it. Either way, I hate making music on my iPhone anyway. Too much zooming and squinting. I better get on and get some Audiokit merchandise to support this fantastic project. Who wants to try to put it on a Raspberry Pi next? They are both ARM devices so that’s a start I guess.
Whatever.....ordered an iPad Pro 10.5, 64GB just some minutes ago
FINALLY
Ha ha, yes. I hope i won´t regret it but i made so much extra hours at work and life sucks a bit at the moment and i thought...f.....just buy that damn thing right now.
Maybe i should wait some months for the next generation but i want it now.
So iPhone, iPad and Macbook....now i´m full on again
I also bought the pencil since i think it is a great tool.
I will get it tomorrow.....bring on Synth One!
Wanted to publicly thank @brice here. Not only did he contribute some amazing presets, but, he discovered more bugs than any beta tester.
AudioKit Synth One isn't perfect. But it's a lot better because of Brice!
🙏
It is almost here.

I am freaking out a bit with anticipation.
I bought my red AudioKit shirt when they first came out.
I am going to get the blue one to say thank you to the AudioKit team, for this amazing gift they are giving us.
I plan on getting the white one when FM 2 comes out.
Everyone who appreciates the AudioKit team and their open source awesomeness should consider doing something similar, if they are financially able. Even a mug would be a nice gesture of gratitude.
Nice work Brice
Thank you. I’m looking forward to the Beta Tester awards this year. For the first time I really feel like I have a fighting chance of at least 2nd or 3rd place. Stiff competition with those SynthMaster One testers, but I remain hopeful. Fingers crossed.
But in all seriousness I think you guys are gonna really enjoy Synth One. It’s remarkably simple and to me that is what makes it remarkably fun to play with. It’s not trying to be or do everything, and there isn’t a single function or parameter in there that I found myself only rarely using when designing sounds for it. And with the addition of the many tuning scales it became a whole different playground of surprises. Very excited for its debut!
I miss the thumbs up button.
