The interesting part for me was:
Everything they've publicly announced for iOS has been written in Objective-C or C++, which would suggest they have something new on the horizon...
We are a cross-functional team working on Ableton’s next generation of products and we’re looking for an iOS engineer to join us. We strongly believe in a software engineering culture that fosters learning, growth and mentorship
Looks like its not just one or two devs but a team, so seems like more than just link.. and something thats on multiple platforms. Hard to think of anything but ableton..
They need to hire every developer on this forum.
I've been there since before the beginning and sampling isn't the child they've bragged about historically, don't get me wrong Hasn't stopped me from using every bit of it, it's no different on iOS the sampling prowess of anything is doted on like other aspects of the development. Take bm3 for example, the least thing talked about is it's sampling capability
I like when companies talk about sampling, I like when people talk about sampling... so I find it nice that bitwig is into talking about sampling right now.... I'm very uncomplicated in that way.
That is a quality upgrade. Bitwig is carving a nice niche for itself. It’s mod system is great, and it looks like they applied it well to the Sampler.
They might mimic Apple's approach of stripping Logic and publish it as Garageband...
I sort of agree, my take is they will have a version of live which is stripped down and designed for the ipad with integration to the desktop version hopefully with audio/midi streaming aka studiomux.
I thought it had come back since the last time it went AWOL, people put it down to developer subscription being renewed ?
The last time I read about Ableton owners talking future they were very clear about x86 platform loyalty so IDK what are they hiring for but I will not expect an AbletiOS soon...
In fact the most similar to that is Ampify apps and you know how are they going...
Another point is the fact iOS users are seen as non professional and Ableton headz are trying to be the standarized standard of all stands so go figure...
...
Better for all of us
I would love to see a dev make bank on this chance of a lifetime!
They have Link and the Ableton export SDK's to maintain, so need iOS dev's for that, so recruiting is not really an indication of Live for iOS.
Link was not developed out of the goodness of their hearts....
Wait what?
Next you will tell me Rex files only Gadget had nothing to do with buying Reason related products.
STFU BRO
Stop messing with me.
And what Alihoopa isn't a bout a great place for artists to share their work?
Janosax, here is your opportunity! https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/25970/tutorial-saxloops-1-how-to-jam-with-iphone-and-ipad-apps-like-with-ableton-live#latest
It’s what I was trying to point... aside maintenance they have stated zero interest on these kind of ports.

Also you can se my old self when I still believed in ampify...
I am not getting from that article any desire to stay x86, the opposite in fact, they recognise the computers people have easy access to these days (phones) are very different to what was available when they started 30 years ago, and they want to be in a space where they can accommodate users that do not have a laptop.
The other thing that is clear in that article is their love of Max.
Perhaps it is Max for iOS we should all be wishing for rather than Ableton Live !
We kind of already have that with Mira: https://cycling74.com/products/mira
Maybe I messed it with the NI talk... in fact I wish they release something like mobmuplat for maxforlive dvices (with AUv3 support will be great) but I expect something more embed. Maybe they thought it twice and understand iOS is the best embedding platform of nowadays.
Kind of, but Mira connects to Max running on a Desktop or Laptop? Whereas in order to help people without those, like they said in the article, Max itself would need to run on the phone. This is something for those that have both.
Yep. Isn’t this kind of what JUCE does as well. Or am i wrong in connecting JUCE to Max?
Bumpkin!
JUCE is an application framework, which means it is the building blocs and environment to build applications....
On the list of companies using JUCE, whaddaya know - Cycling '74, makers of Max.
Max is built with JUCE and takes away some of the coding skills needed to make applications, simplifying it.

This is turning into a journey I may regret embarking on
Mewahahaha i just needed to give him a seed and lo and behold the tree emerged

Between this, trying to avoid spending in Korgs sale, wanting to make music, pending court case on Monday and actually should be doing work today, I CAN'T COPE

Beathawk and Gadget - both made with JUCE too.
