  • @bert iPad, Soundcraft, and Keystep are all connected via a powered usb hub. It’s really a pretty straight forward setup. Keystep sees MIDI from the iPad. Keystep passes it via 5 pin to the Quadra Thru, then on to hardware. All audio into the mixer plus a couple of stereo aux channels for FX. From the mixer into the usb hub. The mixer is class compliant, so the iPad is happy. Hope this helps.

@bert I use an Arturia Keystep and a Quadra Thru to take care of MIDI. Really do wish the Soundcraft had that capability.

if only it had midi, very tempting. I'm hoping for an update in the future for a 96khz version with midi but still its an awesome mixer for the price now.

    @[Deleted User] Agreed!

is it correct that it has multi directional playback? meaning you can play from the DAW then eq using the mixer.

  • @[Deleted User] Absolutely. Each channel has an usb return.I use it to track into Cubasis, then back into the board for analog summing. USB out is pre channel strip except for channels 13/14. The routing options really make it something special.

Thanks for your explanation! Think you made the right decision in choosing this setup. It seems to me the most flexible setup. Last question: do you have hindrance from any too long latency?

@bert You’re very welcome! I haven’t noticed major problems with latency. I also don’t build a track at a time. I compose then sequence everything. Recording is done live in a single pass. So, no issues for me. Perhaps it would be more noticeable for someone recording a track at a time.

  • If you're in the US, Guitar Center is having a bit of a Sale on these kind of things:

  • My Behringer umc1820 does well. Up to 8 inputs.

A little bit later then before but thanks again! To me you have found the right way to incorporate the iPad with one's other hardware.

Well, i did it. And so far am loving it. Just need to figure out a few more routing things and i should be good to get everything to play well together.

Through the new setup i have AUM sending the clock to my Octatrack which is sequencing everything. And since AUM has Link enabled everything is harmonious as can be...

  • @echoopera Congrats! That’s a great looking setup! Enjoy B)
