Rozeta updated, watch out BM3 users!

Yet another great update to the all-powerful Rozeta Suite. Thank you @brambos .
I have lost track of how many 5-Star ratings I have submitted for this app, it gets updated so much. B)

  • Yeah great plugins :)

I'm surprised that they don't show up as pure midi plugins and are still are categorised as instrument. Think there's a still a bit of confusion in the categories between AUv3 audio instrument and midi instrument and there should be a way of separating these.

In apeMatrix categories the only pure midi plugins show up as SPA and Streambyter so far.

I guess in time this will be resolved though :)

Indeed, it's a legacy thing (and backwards compatibility thing).

When Rozeta was launched, the only MIDI-capable plugin format officially confirmed by Apple was "AUMU": AUv3 Instruments which send out audio and can optionally send out MIDI.

In the meantime, a previously undocumented (and never officially Apple-acknowledged) format called "AUMI" has surfaced. These are (according to the API headers) pure MIDI filters without audio capabilities. That's the format which SPA and Streambyter use (which is also the reason why these don't show up in BM3).

I will at some point move Rozeta over to this format too, but this will break compatibility with existing projects - because the host will not be able to find the plugins as "AUMU" anymore. So there will first be a transition period where Rozeta will exist in both formats before I can phase out the old format. I'm trying to hold off as long as possible because having a list with 20 Rozeta plugins is obviously suboptimal.

Being first can sometimes be a handicap (especially when Apple refuses to give us proper documentation and leaves us to interpret their intentions)

    :)

  • Yeah, thought it was something like that thanks for the info @brambos
It's true, it's painful to be at the bleeding edge sometimes :)

So for backwards compatibility when the changeover period happens would we have reopen old projects and re-save them again for when they finally become AUMI?

  • Sorry if this is obvious but why this, "watch out BM3 users"?

  • Thanks huphtur!

  • BM3 beta expired. Hopefully a new one or a stable release happens soon.

Sorry about the lack of details. Too caught up in sending @brambos some more well earned praise and respect.

The details regarding why BM3 users should avoid this update are spelled out very clearly in the release notes on the AppStore page. They were also discussed in the linked thread above by @huphtur (thank you), as well as a trhread on this forum started by Brambos.

I intended to alert anyone who hadn’t heard about the warnings for BM3 users regarding this update, and may have auto-update turned on. They may not see the AppStore info until the update already auto-installed, if they didn’t catch it soon enough.

I definitely do not want anybody to have their current BM3 projects wrecked, or have anyone flipping @brambos any shit over this. So I got on the bullhorn to help spread the word. My dumbass forgot to include the critical details though, so for that I apologize. B)

    I GOT THE MESSAGE.

Don't want to anger the @CracklePot after that other thread....

    Just messing with you, sir.

  • @Daveypoo You have nothing to worry about, brother. You are always supremely gracious, and you could probably never get on my bad side. B)

Now, if someone starts giving YOU a hard time, I would have to stop myself from blasting on THEM! :p
