What app to get...

Debating between....
Spacecraft
Daw lp
grand finale
Drone fx

I know they are all different categories LOL but that's why it's hard to pick.
I'm leaning towards grand finale so I can, when I finish my ep, make it sound better right from the iPad.
But that immediate fun from spacecraft is hard to pass by..

  • Well...

    Spacecraft is $3
    Daw lp $8
    grand finale $5
    Drone fx $3

How much do you want to spend? I picked up Spacecraft last night and it's one of those interactive apps that you'll get lost in for a couple hours. In my second hour I used AB3 and
started putting different sound apps into it to create new samples to interact with. Tardigrain is also a lot of fun and it takes MIDI input but you can start making complex
looping sounds and morph then just using the interface on iPad or iPhone. I made one today and used it for my basic "bass & drum" track for a new project.

Can't really say much about the other 3 except you should have a good mix down effects
product if you're close to finishing an EP. And you should finish first and play second.

You can immediately eliminate DroneFX, trust me. Grand Finale provides the most value for the price, and it sounds like you'll be needing it soon. DAW LP is great but way too niche to recommend over a utility like GF, so like you said, it comes down to the instant fun of Spacecraft vs. a simple mastering app that sounds great. I'd go with the latter.

  • thanks for you insight and replys....
i dont want to spend alot cuz ive spent alot already haha , these guys are cheaper but i still want to avoid stuff that isnt gonna help right now..

i have tardigrain and love it , and now with MPE its even greater, im waiting for quanta or whatever from audio damage but with everyone on this spacecraft kick i feel left out hahaha...

i think you guys are right , GF is going to be the only one i NEED in a sense of finishing my project..

i love the vinyl sound, but for 8 bucks i have a bunch of stuff on my mac that can serve that purpose , so it can wait for now...

i think its gonna be GF and MAYBE just grab spacecraft to have some fun with, even tho im not sure it can replace tardigrain or the upcoming AD app...

@oat_phipps why count drone fx out already...cuz its not suported by AB ? that is preetty crappy hahaha probably makes it useless
