Can you load the Salamander piano into Sequencism? @CracklePot ?

Actually this is why I was looking into .sf2 players. 😏

  • @LinearLineman @[Deleted User] Do you guys have this particular .sf2 file, and if so, which version? Seems to be a lot of choices for lower RAM consumption.

I found some info on it, but the links are not cooperating to get the .sf2 file.
If you guys already have the .sf2 file, try it out. Sequencism is free. If you need help loading up the soundfont in the app, I can help with dat.

But you get to live in Amsterdam! B)

  • Hi everyone :) . Rodrigo (author of sequencism) here. I tried Yamaha-C5-Salamander-JNv5.1 and SalamanderUltraCompact-JNv3.0 on my iPad Pro, and both of them work. Still, note that sequencism does not provide support (yet) for MIDI CC :(

    😊👌

  • I installed Nice-Keys-Ultimate-V2.3.sf2 (which has 15-Velocity-Layer "Salamander" Yamaha C5 Grand Piano on Program 1) into Sequencism. Worked well. I did a quick A-B comparison with an AU loaded Ravenscroft 275 on another MIDI track. It has those layers but doesn't have the beautiful sample that RC275 has. But for $0 it's pretty damn good. Some may prefer the "Bright" instrument on Program 1 for cutting through a mix. Check it out.

You add the SF2 files into Sequencism using the iTunes "File Sharing" for the App trick. I also added another big SF2 that I'm looking into for it's symphonic scoring uses. The MuseScore folks also have a really nice SF2 that's out there.

If the size of an SF2 is a problem you can go to a desktop and use an Application called polyphone and start throwing out any unneeded instruments to trim down the file size.

You can also add these SFS to Auria Pro using the same iTunes File Sharing approach for that App and they say that uses Disk Streaming to cut down on RAM usage amking these big pianos better citizens in a complex set up.

  • You can actually use AudioShare to copy the .sf2 file to Sequencism.
    Now that rocks! B)

  • There is this chord pad app called Keynality. It supports Midi in and .sf2 soundfonts.
    I think it was $3-4.
