Anyone using IK Multimedia’s “VocalLive”? (I know, I know).

I’k Multimedias’s “ VocalLive” gets a lot of flack for being too expensive once you add all the IAP’s.. But if you sing, it is VERY useful and practical. Gender bend, de-esser, 8 track recorder and looper option .. It’s very nice ..

  • Glad I have it.

  • I use it for podcasts. Usualy a process the voice with these effects.

IK's apps/hardware are mediocre but I like VocaLive as it is intuitive to use. Especially, it has Karaoke option - load up a song from iTunes/WiFi/File Sharing/etc, turn on No Voice and your karaoke nights will never be the same again  Hope they provide an option to load a song from YouTube like Yokara as there are so many karaoke backing tracks on YT with LYRICS to sing along

  • Wow, didn’t know about karaoke option.. thanks

Dang, they should turn just that karaoke vocal killer feature into an FX app. Does it sound pretty good, or more like the usual “remove center channel” methods?

  • I bought VoiceJam Studio for my kid about two years or so ago. She thought it was hard to use. How is this app for a general, non-technical type of user? Maybe it is even more sophisticated than VoiceJam Studio?

  • I use it and think it's great for what it is. I have a TC-Helicon Harmony M which I would use at jams or other smaller situations and switched to Vocalive for vocal cleanup. In fact, I need to get around to selling by Harmony M. :) I don't use the looper or gender bending effects but I do use the de-esser, delays, compressor and reverb which sounds great when I connect a good mic to it. I connect my Sennheiser e945 to my iPad with the iRig Pre and it works great.

It works with most songs but on some songs, we can hear some vocals due to bleeding of FX, reverb, etc. into center channels. There is no technology to just eliminate vocals neatly yet. An ideal option is for studios to release vocal-free versions of songs and charge may be twice or 5X or even 10X - people would buy them and studios would get to make more on these karaoke songs than they would on original songs. Business 1-on-1 someone needs to teach them.

Android has a couple of vocal removing apps that work better giving us control how much we can remove/keep.

  • Never got into it... I like the choir pitch effect, which really works very well. Never used it on stage.

I guess I forgot about it when VoiceRack: FX went AUv3

    @Lars
I made a suggestion to add Karaoke option to Cubasis - that would result in so many people just singing along to a backing track, record, FX, mix, master and share their songs quickly right from their device with instant gratification

Also, how about adding a full-blown Audio Player and a Video Player modules to Cubasis?

Being FIRST to the market has an easy advantage over other competing products!!

I didn’t know about the Android options. I will look into those for sure. Thanks for the cross-platform tip. B)

VoiceJam Studio is simpler and easier for a non-techie as it has fewer controls.

VocaLive has modules - Reverb, Delay, Parametric EQ, Compressor, Arranger, Mixer, Channel Strip, Looper, Song/Karaoke, etc. with knobs and one should know how they work in order to use it.

YouTube is your friend to learn how to use these apps

  • Not much on YouTube for VocaLive.. The manual is ok so it’s coming along. Voice jam is nice but too preset in nature. I have them both.
