I went and got the SFZ for the "Piano in 162" and also dropped it into Auria Pro's
piano sample folder. It competes with the other pianos well there in that environment with one caveat:
its a really low volume recording
I had to look for the compressor settings in the channel strip and fiddle with them to get
a volume even close to the other pianos.
It appears to be the work of a college student fro Arizona State and 162 is a music department room number. He mic'ed it with a pair of close mic's and a pair of distant/amibient mics (probably a large rehearsal room). Might be wise to run a MIDI into both pianos and set a balance between the two mic's for setting a natural reverb.
Anyway, this piano made me glad I have Auria Pro because it supports the larger sample
SFZ format and uses Disk Streaming to manage such large samples effectively.
Is there another sample playing app that accepts the SFZ format? It won't help having a free piano if the only way to use it is to buy a $50 DAW. Something around $10 would be nice but it probably would have to manage disk streaming and have AUv3 capability to be worth
locating and installing. The ZIP file for this 2 piano set is 4.6GB and to get it free to have to use BitTorrent. Understandable because giving out 4.6GB files can be expensive for the giver.
