iPhone SE external speaker is mono?
This doesn't really matter much, since I don't really use the external speaker on my iPhone... but, I noticed that when I select external speaker in AUM, it says "speaker mono". If I stereo pan left all the way left, I get no sound from it.
I already checked the that the accessibility settings isn't set to mono. And, I get stereo from AUM if I'm using headphones.
Is the external speaker on the iPhone SE actually mono? Makes sense since there's only one speaker... but the panning seems to work with the external speaker when using apeMatrix or AB3's mixer panning settings. Or, is that just my imagination and it's really just mono for the external speaker?

I'm thinking it has to be a mono speaker. I figured as much since there's only one... but I wasn't sure if Apple managed to cram to drivers into the one assembly.
The replacement speaker part for the iPhone SE doesn't say "stereo". And I believe the 5S also had a mono bottom speaker.
LOL, that's why my recent DerVoco carrier/modulator experiments didn't sound like they were working. It's a freaking mono speaker. Doh!
Very interesting effects to be had with DerVoco by the way. Getting all kinds of weird combos letting other stuff modulate any kind of carrier.
I've been making music on my iPhone 6s for a couple of years now and I never realized the speaker on this model is mono. I just opened AUM, tossed in a synth and used the stereo balance. Sure enough it's mono (and the right channel too). The easy fix would be to throw a stereo to mono AUM effect and life will be good.
Thinking on it, I pretty much always use headphones when doing anything I want to hear. So easy to miss for me.
Converting stereo to mono then panning left/right to use DerVoco’s carrier/modulation feature on an iPhone without headphones handy... is exactly what I did. And the feature worked pretty much similar to if I was using stereo. But, I was still surprised... that all this time I’d assumed the iphone se’s external speaker was stereo.
