Reciprocated, great track, feeling some Radiohead vibes in there.
You're doing very well with counterpoint. Though I did not reach your level of complexity in composition, I kind of relate to your point. I realised recently that the best stuff I did until now are done without instrument but just relying on the imagination and these little voices singing inside my head.
I long to hear the other movements!
You're the third person telling me this, and to me, that is a huge compliment! Thanks
You will. It’s just me being lazy copying down, and I also recently have had some new ideas. I haven’t ever made a scherzo yet, and that’s what I’m writing next. The second movement will be slow and funeral like. I think I’ve created something like homophonic counterpoint, if there ever was such a thing. LoL. The chords (and tensions) will be created by moving all voices slowly in between each other, giving each voice its own life in the homophonic choral like opening. That’s the plan anyway, however I think it I might pull it off. Sadly I ran out of ideas after approximately 40 bars... I tried to speed it up and change the dynamics, but what has appeared in my mind now is a simple but beautiful theme that wanders through all voices, being shared both as melody and counterpoint, then the solo violin will go into a walking arpeggio following the circle of 5ths a for a bit, while the voices underneath is gathering forces, trying to lead the solo into unknown territory for nefarious reasons... and I still don’t know who wins. The scherzo has a heroic theme after a Wagnerian opening... so who knows how this will turn out.
you’re doing good. Both my wife and I listen to your song. She gave thumbs up. She’s from Seoul, but mostly into the Berlin electronica scene. So there’s another thumbs up for you
As you see, I kinda make myself a story to remember the whole piece. And our fantastic wetware called brain, can forward and rewind faster than any app on hardware.
Rely on the voices in your head my friend. They are what you are, and that’s the way to originality. Well that’s my view at least

@jankun, you may have a life's work ahead of you on this thread! 1500 views! This is pretty unusual for a good hearted, hey isn't this forum great, discussion. It may prove my contention that a really good discussion title draws interest like a great hook in a song. Your title, in its existential brevity, speaks to most of us. And we want to know what a person who realizes he doesn't know who he is, in the cosmic sense, has to say!
Now you can see why I sometimes get into trouble on my threads! I am waiting for someone to tell me to quit this forum and go to the two bit philosophy forum down the block. But this place tolerates eccentrics as well as well adjusted musicmakers. Sometimes there is a dust up, but like Eckhart Tolle's story of the ducks after a fight, everybody just ruffles their feathers, shakes it off and gets on with the fun ( mostly, anyway).
I suggest posting another song on this thread. That would put you in striking range of 5k views, and then you can truly wonder who the silent ones are! Best, Mike
I am also really surprised by the number of views. You're right about the discussion title, and I should give you credit for the title of this one, since it was inspired by one of yours. I am not intending to post anymore song. It would not make sense. I will just take the time to reply to any comment. I ALSO INVITE ANY SILENT READER STILL READING THIS, TO REGISTER TO THE FORUM AND POST ONE OF THEIR CREATION HERE. COME ON, GUYS! JOIN THE FUN AND EXPRESS YOURSELVES!
Nice reference to Tolle's duck fight! I am really glad to get the chance to exchange with you. Once again thanks to this awesome forum!
Thanks for all these details about your work. Please post something as soon as you're done. A big thank you to your wife too !
@jankun you mean, l hope, you will not post another song on this thread, but will post new stuff as a different thread in Creations?
That is what I meant, sorry for my poor English!
Your English is great @jankun. I am living in Istanbul. You should hear my Turkish!
