Saving or recalling presets across apps - Rozeta
If I am in AM or AUM and I create, let’s say a patch in XoX and I save it to my presets, then go to Cubasis and try and open it to use for recording, it’s not there. Do presets only save within the specific host?

Hello, is this a stupid question?
It would be a stupid question if you already knew the answer to it. As far as I can tell, Rozeta doesn’t save presets between hosts and IMO it’s the weak link in any Rozeta workflow. I would really enjoy having the ability to save presets to a central location so that you can access presets in any AU hosts.
I think Apple rather than @brambos really dropped the ball on their end by not incorporating this functionality into their AU standard and documenting it. As it currently stands, the AU standard is a sufficient barrier that even the team of developers who developed AudioKit struggle to incorporate AU into their apps and went with the older standard of IAA for their initial efforts despite AU being introduced several years ago.
I think it is the nature of AU apps in general that the presets are host-centric. I think AU apps don’t save settings like IAA apps, in that the settings are stored by the host. So presets seem to work the same between hosts, in that they are only available to the host that saved it.
I am just guessing, based on the little bits of info I’ve gathered and personal experience. It may be that there is a way to get AU presets to be host independent, but someone has to figure out how to do it. And maybe an app does it already, but I am not aware of any at the moment. I am aware that a lot of people do not like the current situation, though.
Definitely NOT a stupid question. Just a difficult one.
Some developers do include the ability to store presets in their AU apps, the problem is the developers had to do this themselves because Apple failed to do so. With some AU apps, you can create presets in standalone or AU mode and they’re available in the AU in whatever AU host you use.
Some developers may be reluctant to DIY their own internal presets because they’re afraid Apple may undermine them in the future by changing the AU or lack the vision to see that some users will have more than one AU host they use and therefore don’t want to waste their time manually recreating presets.
