SUBMIT TRACKS TO THE ‘Mobile Music’ COMPILATION ALBUM.

Hey folks, I'm currently curating and producing a compilation album for Clan Analogue Recordings which celebrates music creation with mobile tools. Clan Analogue is an iconic record label and the longest running collective of electronic musicians in Australia.

We are looking for music made with small, battery-powered, portable gear and, of course, iOS hardware and apps fit perfectly into this category.
Please have a look at this link on the label's page for all details: https://www.clananalogue.org/news/submit-tracks-to-the-mobile-music-compilation-album/

If you're interested in submitting something, please have a listen to the past label releases to make sure that your track is stylistically suitable. Also, since submissions close in mid September, please take your time to submit well-mixed and produced pieces.

Cheers!

Hey, sounds interesting but couldn't see any mention of release details like if it's going to be free or a commercial release (vinyl? tape? cd? digital? And if physical do artists get copies etc?) or rights/royalties implications?

In recent years, Clan Analogue has moved to mostly digital releases, however, often there is a very small run of CD's also being made and for the previous compilation all featured artists got a hard copy. I will check with the label manager whether that's still going to be the case for this album. And yes, it's a commercial release that will be available through all usual digital streaming and download outlets, so there will be royalty implications related to the album sales.

  • Just following up on this thread, as I'm the Label Manager for Clan Analogue, to answer query re ownership/royalty arrangements. We are an artist-run collective that has been active in Australia for over 25 years and as such we don't have heavy legal arrangements and nor (sadly) do we tend to get big sales for most of our releases. We have a non-exclusive arrangement so you are free to release your tracks elsewhere in addition to placing them on our releases, however we need to be confident that you are not going to pull your tracks from our releases in the future. The royalty split is usually around 40-45% to the artists pro-rata once costs are recouped however we don't tend to make payouts to artists until they've accrued at least $50 in their accounts. Given that we run on voluntary labour we try to keep administration simple. We keep records on sales, royalties, etc that can be checked any time by artists. My general tip is to not rely on us as an income-earning vehicle but it can be a good way to get your music out there into the world.
