  • Gadgets as AU would be very handy...AU inside of Gadget would likely make my iPad a fire hazard ;)

Korg has a great ability to ignore user feedback, and to create useless product demonstrations that usually pigeonhole their products into very particular niche markets. Of course, I may still be holding a grudge since they totally abandoned the MicroSampler shortly after it’s release and never really responded to any of the dozens of emails I’ve sent them since 2010 (in 8 years I’ve gotten 2 generic “thanks for your feedback” auto replies and one “thanks for your question, read this FAQ” with a dead link). I jokingly inquired about applying for Rich Formidoni’s job as well, maybe that pissed them off...

Korg is kind of like an interesting rock formation...really cool looking and fun to mess around on, but unwilling to move and only changing so gradually that new features are either superficial or just not significant until a few generations later.

I don't mind if they keep Gadget a closed system that's fair enough, but I think they should update their standalone synths as AU. IAA is not a good way to connect in 2018 and they should keep up with progress.

So I'm less interested in Gadget getting AU but more their synths.

    Well said.

    Very much this.....

Yep, I can see the logic in keeping the Gadget stuff self-contained, but apps like the iMS20 and iPolysix are well overdue an update - either adding Gadget versions or AU.

Did you get the new Korg Gadget? Still not grabbing me that one..

No, I have managed to resist so far. :)

I prefer Gadgets stability to be honest. I don`t need an open system.

    Agreed.
    1. Optimize code (cpu/battery)
    2. Files support

Would prefer that the Gadgets were made available as AU for other hosts TBH.

+1 That is why I am considering Gadget for Mac to use in Ableton. Kinda really like the sounds and limitations of the gadgets.

  • They really need to fix their code before adding any kind of feature. I feel like the gadget icon is a self distruct button for my iPad.

Especially Files Support. At the phase & direction things are going we might have to wait for iOS14 before we see Files support in Gadget...

Maybe Korg and Novation should team up. ;)

  • Another long standing request to Korg is the ability to use/share the Gadget factory samples between all Gadgets.

Meaning for example being able to use Samples from Amsterdam, London, Receife in Vancouver, Bilbao and Abu-Dhabi and vice versa. That would also mean being able to use user-samples in London and Receife etc...

This would extend the usability of Gadget by a long-shot.
Extend it to being able to use user-samples in Darwin/iM1 and iWaveStation/Miltipas and BOOM!

Korg knows how to do touch-based sampling & editing that dates back to the Triton...

I'm honestly quite interested in what the successor to the Kronos will include and that is without any doubt already in the works...

  • +1 to the "Korg should sell their Gadgets as AU" camp. This way, they could have two business strategies. Do you want a stable system to play with your gadgets? Buy Korg Gadget. Do you want to integrate other AU with the gadgets? Buy the gadgets as AU :) .

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • I’ll send a bug report to Korg Apps (again...) and including a link to this thread.

  • Just a little tip- in case you are not aware. Stop wasting your time. Korg have no interest in their customer feedback. This is sub- zero and it is written in history. I mean less than none. It does not matter how much you tickle their chin, side up to them, flirt with them, ask them politely or smother them in profanities- they are not interested. They don’t want to know. They know best- take it or leave it- there is nothing recorded anywhere to show that Korg have responded to customer feedback- ever ever ever... period. Please feel free to prove me wrong..... I will wait here patiently......

Thanks! I've kinda given up on the Korg Forums due to practically zero response over the years apart from the occasional 'forwarded to app team' posts.

I think Twitter might be the 'loudest' way to reach them and at the same time tag other relevant parties.
The worst that can happen is that they delete the post if it's too 'inconvenient' or 'Bad PR'...

Korg is a small family owned company with 300 employees.

    Utilities
    7 synths / Workstations
    2 Drummachines
    Gadget

That’s quite an investment in iOS. They do have many other instruments and software that needs a lot of time and money as well. The “i” team is expanding, reaching out to other companies, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more Props stuff for Gadget, more stuff from other companies as well.

Has anyone ever heard of a response from Korg in relation to a bug report or fault resulting in change in any circumstances?

I’ve asked for (Gadget) features, reported possible issues and I’ve gotten responses from the iKorg team on twitter. Been a while since all that now though

Just to add, MIDI and UNDO have been two of the feature requests. I think we all had those two ones though lol

  • This is the right place to report bugs:

I’ve reported bugs a couple of times and they did respond.

However, they don’t respond in forums or any other social media.

What did they do- if anything- apart from responding?

The first time (about a couple of years ago) they partially fixed the bug in a later update. The last one (a few weeks ago) they said they would further investigate the cause (still pending).

  • If anyone has iFunBoxed the Gadget folder it's quite clear that for the regular user it looks 'like a mess'.
Everything is stored at the 'root level', samples, rex-files and session folders etc.

So directly enabling Files.app support could potentially shock the user.

To make things cleaner the 'Gadget Folder' needs a cleanup with folders for the supported file-types.
(Gadget Sessions, WAV & REX at the moment).

That's my theory as to why we don't have Files.app support yet...

  • Never cared for the Gadget groovebox enviroment. If KORG issues their apps like full ODYSSEi with it’s built in ARP SEQUENCER, iMS20 and others as AU instruments my wallet is wide open.

Yeah, same for the velocity assignments.
Gotta sell those NanoKey Studio’s :D

I thought the keys in Stockholm would at least have gotten vertical velocity (like the Madrid Gadget) but nah...
Still hoping for more performance oriented input modes for Gadget since I don't always tag along the nanoKEY Studio...
