New original song, “You Never Know”!
This is my newest original song, “You Never Know”, a R&B song with soft lead vocals and huge vocal harmonies, Rhodes piano mellow chords and slow tempo drums - everything you expect from the genre. But also guitar solos and riffs, because, well, it’s my way of doing it. As usual, recorded in Auria Pro (iOS) using an Apogee One, MXL mics, a Marshal JTM-30 and a few stomps, a strat model guitar and a precision model bass. Once more, I used footage from the great Fred Astaire classic, “Royal Wedding”. Lyrics in the description. Enjoy!

@theconnactic you are so versatile. I like the Overdubbing vocals as you knew I would. Seems like you write and produce a new song every two days. Amazing output and great guitar chops! When an album? Maybe Choon? Haha!😈
Hahaha, I post it to the streaming services constantly; look for Dimitri De Alencar on Spotify, Apple Music etc... thank you so much, @LinearLineman, it means a lot, really.
Love the voicings & harmonies, almost a Steeley Dan vibe. The close harmony vocals in the Chorus are really tight & welldone. Mix was tight, everything represented, smooh Rhodes, etc.
My only quibble is the lead guitar tone; like I said it's perfect for this genre, almost California Jazz Pop, but I'm more partial to an overdrive distortion vs. fuzz distortion. What did you use for that lead tone (amp sim app, pedal, amp, etc.).
Either way that's the first thing out of this prolific stretch you've been on that I thought I'd do different. Keep it up Dmitri, you inspire cats like me to be more productive on a daily basis.
Spot on: I used a Big Muff fuzz instead of the usual Rat for the main solos. Good ears! Yes, I decided for the Big Muff for a “hendrixian” approach for the solos, which fit the genre better IMO. Thank you so much, @JRSIV!
No problem brother. Like I said Walter Becker of Steely Dan used a fuzz on a few of their album cuts & I’ve heard it used in other contexts that weren’t just straight punk or rock. While it may not be my favorite electric guitar tone it was perfect for this song.
The dance part in the video matches your groove stunningly well, good pick.
Can't go wrong with a P-Bass
Bad side effect on my side: the track clearly reveals into what kind of crap those expensive B&W cans (P5) have developed over the years.
(obviously some plastic dissolvement under hood that's kind of 'glueing' the drivers coils)
Many thanks, @Telefunky!
Seriously man, you do so much and it’s all quality!
