Has anyone tried the new module packs?

The orchestra pack sounds pretty incredible in the demo!

  • Yes I have it and like it a lot.

They've been out for a while, and yes Orchestral Dreams is great. Particularly useful to have in Gadget, I really like the cello. This track was made with Middle East Drummer and Gadget, and the cello features heavily, with these sounds it's really easy to make music in Gadget that doesn't sound like EDM.

    Very nice track @richardyot ! 👍
Like the tune and the perfect blend with Middle East Drummer.

I have most of the gadgets except the KORG Modules. I was thinking there is no need for them because I have more piano stuff than I need.

The Orchestral Dreams Pack can be a game changer. The Cello is really nice and I’m missing natural instruments in Gadget. Do you think it worth the price to buy KORG Modules (21,99€) and the orchestral dreams (10,99€) to get some really useful sounds in Gadget for non EDM music? Hope all the sounds from the module pack are also available in gadget?

Can I find somewhere a patchlist from Orchestral Dreams? 😎

fever ray come to my mind when I was listening

For me it was worth it - there's some really nice sounds in Module, especially with the IAPs: Orchestral Dreams, the Electric Pianos, Ivory Grand etc... and having those really widens the palette in Gadget. Even if Ivory Grand isn't my favourite piano on iOS, having it in Gadget is super useful for songwriting.

This is another Gadget song, everything bar the vocals was done in Gadget, then transferred to Auria for vocals and final mixing. The piano is Ivory Grand, and the track was composed in Gadget:

  • Both songs are excellent @richardyot :)
A Thomas Dolby vibe from both to my ears.

Doug did vids for all 3 KApro packs a while ago.
Here’s the one for Orchestral Dreams:

@chandroji I think Module (and most of its IAPs) is worth it at 50% off.
As mentioned, specially if you want Gadget to sound less EDM.

    Hi

Can you get this into Gadget?

I thought the IAP's in Module were not transferable to gadget?

  • Yes you can use IAPs in Gadget. And of course you can use Module in Audiobus so you can use the sounds in other apps too.

  • The Module IAPs do show up in Gadget, some in Salzburg, some in Glasgow, some in Marseille and some in whatever the electric piano is called.

  • Well, obviously posted in the wrong thread. An example of the orchestral sounds in module / gadget:

In my mind it is not on par with iSymphonic soundwise, but still very useful.

  • It can be a guessing game figuring out what the Module IAPs are called in Gadget, esp if you have them all. I remember going through them all, and they were all hidden in there somewhere, but not always easy to find.

It looks like Module IAPs are not included in the current Korg 50% off sale. I’m seeing $9.99 in the Store for KApro and Scarbee. That’s the regular, not a sale, price, right?

It’s 50% less than regular prices.
    Here are all sales listet...

    https://www.korg.com/us/news/2018/071102/

  • I did a Gadget track a few months ago that used almost exclusively sounds from the Module IAPs. The piano is from the Ivory IAP, harp and strings are from the Orchestral Dreams IAP. I know a lot of people on this forum have listened to this already, but maybe it's new to the OP. But to answer the question - Yes, I've tried them and they're quite good!

  • I just purchased Module, Orchestral Dreams and Dreamy Synths. Half price was just too tempting. I haven’t looked through the rest of the IAPs yet. Who knows... Module also works fine in AUM and apeMatrix as an IAA Generator, and midi can be routed to it as a virtual instrument in both. Now that I’ve looked at the other IAPs, I think I’m good for now.

  • Korg got a few things right. The IAP's in Module cover all the bases for most keyboard players and yet Module comes with basic versions of most categories.

Then all the investment in Module and IAP's come through in Gadget in re-assigning the sounds to relevant Gadgets. Doug has a video on this:

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=355s7a-KtfI

If you own KORG Module and 5 KORG Gadgets get added:

Salzburg - acoustic piano sounds including Ivory if the IAP is purchased
Montreal - vintage E-Pianos (Wurly if purchased, I think)
Alexandria - Organs (Vintage Organ IAP is close to Galileo for excellence... good Leslie)
    Firenze - clavs
Glasgow - synths, strings, brass (Orchestral Dreams and Triton IAPs)

It's a walled garden for sure but you can live there and make recordings efficiently in any musical style. If you commit to their world getting 50% off is really compelling 'cause there are so many cool toys inside. It only happens 2 times a year I think. Buy a few and you'll find more and more you want. If you want to make Beats like on a Korg ElecTribe/Volca "Go Gadget" and if you want a Korg lworkstation keyboard like Krome "Go Module".

    Montreal for EPs
    Alexandria for organs
Frienze for Clavs (the secret electric guitar gadget)
Glasgow is the Gadget equivalent of Kronos
    And Salzburg for grand piano

Marseille is fixed with the stock sounds, which are classic

I want Dreamy Synths for the sake of completion but I’m really on the fence even with the sale. Can anyone talk me into it. Doug’s video wasn’t tremendously compelling in this instance.

I’ll add that the must buys are as follows

    Orchestral dreams
    Scarbee
    Ivory

And these ones not exactly stunning in sound quality or variation but more tools for the tool shed

Wurly (subsequent to the release of Scarbee)
    80s piano
    Triton
    Premier organ

I think the Mellotron is a freebie or it used to be.

  • Has anyone figured out how to get the iaps on the Mac?

The new Module IAPs are not available for the Mac Gadget version... at this point anyway

That is sad. I finally j stalled Mac gadget to some fine editing and had blank channels.
