Korg Gadget - how do you reset midi learn?

I assigned a CC To the Play/Pause transport and now I can’t find out how to reset it back to “No Assign”. I hope the answer isn’t a delete/reload of the Gadget app. 😒

I tried swiping left or right, up or down etc. I can’t find a factory reset in settings either. I also opened a new song, and the setting was still active in the new song.

I did a google search for the topic and didn’t find anything helpful. None of the three Gadget manuals address it either, unless I missed it.

While I was using it, I found out that Pause when using the Play/Pause transport actually rewinds. That’s confusing. In most other apps when you Pause, you stay at the same place in the timeline.

Thanks for any help.

Assign the cc to something else. It should clear it.

Nope. I went to another app and did a midi learn for the same CC. When I reopened Gadget the assignment had not been reset. So my question still stands. If I did this INSIDE Gadget, all it would do is replace one CC with another. I admit that I may be missing something, but nothing I’ve tried has worked.

Many other apps will clear if you select a control for midi learn, then simply close the midi learn dialog without sending a CC. Apparently Gadget does not. My next step is to write support unless someone has an answer.

You went to another app and did a midi learn? Am I understanding you right that you weren’t in Gadget when you did this? Midi learn isn’t across apps, only within each app. In fact, in Gadget, it’s per Gadget. So, you’d have to midi-learn the cc you want to remove to another control within that same Gadget. That’s probably not what you really want either.

I don’t think the ability to reset a mapping to the exists, from what I can tell. If you have another device with Gadget installed, your best bet might be to look up what the default cc is, then re-map it using your controller.

Here’s an old thread with some lists of cc’s. Could be out of date though.

  • Never mind. 😒

I just deleted/restored Gadget. Remind me never to try to use transport CCs again. For all practical purposes, since Pause resets the timeline, they’re not very helpful anyway.

Thanks. I saw the thread with the implementation chart too. I understand now what you mean about reassigning the CC to a Gadget. I didn’t try that. Does that reassignment then stick with the GADGET? Or just with an instance of the gadget? If it’s the instance, I could do the reassign then delete the instance of the Gadget. Either way, because of what happened, I’m just going to avoid using Transport CCs. After the reinstall, my transports are now clean and I think I’ll just leave it that way. 😁

It’s per Gadget. So, if you assign a cc to a control, it sticks with all instances of that Gadget. I haven’t tried mapping any ccs outside of particular gadgets.

  • A swipe to clear the mapping is evidently missing. Nice one again Korg.
