Any MidiBridge users on the fence about MidiFire? - Act fast!

I know there are quite a few Midibridge users on the forum.

Just a heads up that I saw on the Audeonic forum that the special upgrade price to MidiFire, via a bundle is soon to expire.

Apple are stepping up their blitz on 32bit apps and this means MidiBridge will soon be removed from the store, and that upgrade bundle with it.

MidiBridge will continue to work and get support where possible but it'll be gone.

I'll paste a link to more detail below...

  • I think there are around 30 days before this happens, so mid-August.

  • good hint and a nice move by the developer :+1:

Wait... that's a thing? They're killing it with fire?

Burning it - to be precise

  • @SpookyZoo OK so I own MidiBridge and recently purchased StreamByter so not sure I will be shelling out for MidiFire.

  • MIDI Wizards know: To really build solutions for complex MIDI nothing beats MidiFire. It has so many additional Modules beyond just the "Stream Byter" that does the transformations of the MIDI byte streams.

Notably: "Event Monitor" - A "MIDI Wrench" like tool to examine events at any canvas point You can see the before and after events of a Stream Byter transformation module
in a format similar to MIDI Wrench or other visibility text windows.

    All the Modules include:

Channel Strip - commonly used MIDI channel management/transpose/monofy
Note/Velocity Split - split an incoming signal over 2 MIDI channels
Pressure Curve - remap note velocity or aftertouch
Event Monitor - MIDI monitor to examine events at any canvas point
Comment Block - for documenting your work
Protocol Filter - block/allow events within a MIDI protocol range
Dynamic Clock - intensely accurate and remotely controllable clock source
Stream Byter - write your own processing modules
Tracking Clamp - reduce aberrations from MIDI guitars
Robotic Knob - generate complementary CC messages based on performance
OSC Exchange - pipe OSC data across a MIDI interface

The best $12 you can spend to support a great development team and learn a lot about what's going on between your Apps, Controllers and networks. I'd love to see their Forum explode with activity and useful samples of Stream Byter "spells".

    For example:

    BX 40 00 = BX 40 7E
    BX 40 7F = BX 40 00

BX catches any Controller events (Sustain is passed as CC 64)
    40 is decimal 64 in Hex-decimal: a 4 in the 16's column and 0 in the 1's
00-3F are the sustain "off" events of Decimal 0-63 value
40-7F are the sustain "on" events of decimal 64-127 value

I set the first line transformation to 7E and not 7F so the second line won't just set it right back to 0.

That will flip to polarity of a sustain pedal. FYI: throw "sustain" events into a MIDI stream can create some cool ambient washes of notes.
