Beathawk 2 and Ravenscroft 275 updates
Latest UVI updates are here.
So...
I’ve got no more sound on iPhone speakers for both apps standalone. More exactly, there is a sound in ear speaker, but it’s needed to put ear on phone to ear anything like when you make a call. Sound is ok with headphones, or as AU/IAA in a host on speakers.
There are still audio crackles on Ravenscroft 275 when playing fast chords with external midi keyboard.
Sustain pedal level slider is nice.
iPhone 7 Plus BeatHawk UI glitches are supposed to be fixed. I’ve asked them for that. Unfortunately, it’s now ok only if AU is not in full screen, but then BH becomes unresponsive to touch.
Haven’t tested yet midi channel receiving in AU mode for BeatHawk, it’s supposed to work with 16 channels.
EDIT: I’ve just sent to UVI a mail with extended report of those issues. Hope they’ll fix all of that!
Comments
Confirm that BeatHawk now listens to all channels as AU
Unfortunately the metronome bug (loud noise when enabling rec as AU) remains . Did anyone contact support about it ????
That’s a nice tix for AU midi channels!!
I haven’t sent them some feedback about metronome issue, I’ve forgotten that.
Have you got issue too with standalone mode and no sound on speakers?
Here is their contact page, if someone wants to report anything:

@janosax, saw the RC 275 update and indeed there is a pedal noise slider. It was great that a UVI showed up on the forum and addressed the problem so swiftly. I guess our voices count. Next world peace!
You’re right that’s a good thing, new feature added and they listen to us!!
But honestly... I’ve just taken one hour to troubleshoot BeatHawk midi out issues as IAA which don’t work correctly (send strange not recorded CC aftertouch, pitch bend, lsb/msb, Model D becomes crazy in apeMatrix and go back always to default preset, needs some channel filtering in ApeM to be fixed..), AU mode needs BeatHawk well hidden default enabled midi clock out to be disabled or could be potential problem, and also BH IAA/AU sync enabled needs BH link disabled for proper sync (should not be possible to have both enabled!!)... I should make music!!!!
BeatHawk has issues since some months and months, I’ve bought lot of iaps, it’s more than frustrating. And this sluggish AU interface..... drives me nuts!!!!
They fixed the two I requested which was timeline glitches and the headphone changes the tempo bug. Can confirm the iPhone sound problem but iPad is working good. They listen so I have faith they will correct it.
@Janosax I have sound on standalone or IAA in my Air2 .
I also noticed that link doesn’t work inside Audiobus, plus when enabled the first beat of a pattern is heard when pressing stop.
Seems the channel recording issue in the AU is fixed... If only we can get recording infinity (instead of 16 bars max) and, or, record to the next pattern (proceed to the next pattern after completed recording on the last pattern) and maybe an AUfx (as Synthmaker one). It will make Beathawk the ultimate midi recording AU app for AUM...
Thanks for the update..
Emailed UVI support , they do listen

Edit : ( For the metronome bug ) Responded immediately and sent a video
@RajahP Had an idea for a workaround to bypass the 16 bar limitation . Use the song mode ! But can’t get it to work right , mostly can’t sync the rec&play .
Could anyone else try ?
We are close
Just tried it.. no work for me...
But yes, it’s almost there...
I don’t think it’s possible to get round this limitation unfortunately.
Here is BeatHawk loaded in apeMatrix as IAA, playing a midi sequence with only IAA/AU sync enabled in BH preferences, and no midi input enabled, only apeMatrix output is on. There are program change, channel pressure and aftertouch data. Sequence is recorded with BH onscreen keyboard. How is this possible? I’ve checked everything, it doesn’t occurs in AU mode.
Just tried , (linking patterns in song mode).
(Not a bug ,it’s normal unfortunately)
When it rarely works ,there is a major limitation :
Notes that are sustained will be cut off in next pattern
To be honest I am not much interested in AU sequencer ,but BeatHawk is the closest thing.
Came to another annoying bug : (Edit mess happens only in AUM ,or ApeMatrix **when pre roll is enabled **)
BeatHawk seems to pause instead of stopping when host is stopped. That leads to unsync stuff.
Also on loading you have to manually stop every AU instance , so when starting the host everything will be synced from start. Will send a third email

Maybe it’s the way BeatHawk separates different modes for midi .

I tried it and everything was normal in midi monitor. I was in “each pad has each own channel “ mode . What were your settings?
how do you sync it to aum tempo?
@Korakios
This is when using BeatHawk IAA midi output for sequencing some audio units in apeMatrix, and only pad 1 and 3 are used, and program change date for example is on ch 5, nothing should play on this channel as it was a blank project.
It automatically syncs:) Better disable Link and make sure IAA sync is enabled on settings.
Also disable pre roll since it messes sync (updated my other post )
@Janosax I don’t know (nothing fancy when I tried ), but you may try changing the input settings as mine in the screenshot. They might affect the way midi out works.
Edit: just saw the other (smaller) pictures . Try disabling (send to selected pad?)
If it insists, save the project and talk to UVI. Maybe other users are affected too .
Thanks for your help @Korakios
I’ve tried with various settings you mentioned too. Strange thing is that it’s only with recordings. I will do a short video.
Here is short video which show the issue:
@Janosax , unfortunately can’t reproduce
@Korakios thanks, perhaps it’s on iPhone 7 Plus, I will send them a mail.
Also in AU mode, it seems that we need to be sure midi clock is disabled or midi out sequences will not play properly
@Janosax make sure to Link the video on the email , it’s very informative
So BeatHawk has a potential as AU to midi clock generator? Nice !
what causes the buzzing sound when trying to record in new notes in beathawk, while transport control in running in Aum? is there a way to fix it?
I recorded a video of it, but how do i load it
to this thread?
Just upload your video in YouTube and share the link here.
Should be BeatHawk metronome well known issue. Disable it in preferences, and use AUM metronome instead.
Bypass the metronome
Maybe by attaching a file (left to the photo option) ,might upload the video , haven’t ever tried it .
PS. I’ve sent a video to UVI support
aghhh sooo much better. thank you so much!
The metronome.. try bypassing..
Edit.. wow.. this Forum is on fire..
Anyway.. Midi Import can be a blessing for Beathawk too..
Midi import would be cool indeed !
Unfortunately they can’t reproduce the metronome bug, so hummer them
https://support.uvi.net/hc/en-us/requests/new
It’s odd as everybody seems to encounter this metronome bug.
I redownloaded Ravenscroft 275 yesterday and tested it with my ipad mini 2. I was one of those that was affected with the crackling noise issue since purchasing day 1 and just decided to remove the app from my device. I can say that the issue is corrected. I played for about 10 minutes on my device with my midi controller connected and had no hiccups or crackling. I can finally use this app!
