Korg odyssei and AUM
Might get the odyssei but I have concerns ....
Does it have midi I/O
Does the sequencer temp sync with AUM. I assume no link
Is it stable in AUM
Can you load and save presets without issues
Does the UI work without issue
Many thanks 🙏

Would be great if someone could help 🙂
Personal opinion:
I don’t like using the Korg stand alone apps, as I have never found IAA apps reliable.
The Karp Oddy is a great sounding app imo, but I personally don’t use IAA apps anymore due to the ghosting problems I’ve personally encountered. Others may have differing opinions.
Thanks man, I guess ghosting is like an app that stays open in the background? Some call it zombie app?
Yeah that’s it. I mention it more specifically as you say you would use AUM. If like me, you switch between saves in AUM often, you will most likely suffer problems with the Korg apps. It is a great sounding app though, but I only use it in Gadget or sample sounds into BM3 now. If I remember correctly, it’s also a pain trying to program in one and have your sounds in the Gadget version (I think it was this one).
I have used the original hardware and while there is no way this screams as well, it really is quite nice sounding and obviously a lot more reliable than getting an original. I’ve not tried the new hardware model.
I just checked it in AUM synced up with Patterning and everything was fine and in sync. It has MIDI In I don’t see MIDI out. You’ll have to set up the MIDI channels in the ODYSSEi app itself. All the Korg stuff is IAA Generator so you can’t do any MIDI filtering within AUM and you have to route stuff through the MIDI Matrix.
You can load and save presets no problem, but you cannot export\import\backup your presets. The UI is a pain to get it exactly where you want so manually remaking all the patches for all your devices is not fun. There is some strange quick flick trick you can do to move the parameters in small precise increments. If you made a patch in ODYSSEi and decide to load up Gadget it won’t be there and never will.
It sounds really good, but I think you shouldn’t buy it. Korg apps don’t work well outside of Gadget. It’s Archaic! If $3 apps can support all this modern 2016 iOS stuff, why isn’t Korg with their $30-40 apps? I say don’t support them. Other people might think differently.
thanks man between you and @Fruitbat1919 i have a pretty good overview now.
@[Deleted User] Oh, I am also pretty sure there is no Ableton Link. Like 90% sure.
If you want a cheap alternative (in some ways), Phosphor2 can make some screaming sounds. Yeah a bit more digital sounding (no surprise there), but it’s well worth a punt and AU as well.
If your a Korg nut (I am! ) & it's still on offer, it's a bit of a no brainer. Load it into Studiomux, record into Ableton, job done.
If you like emulations of vintage synths, then this is what your iPad was made for! It sounds bloody great.
Never had any problems with it in AUM, & it samples great into BM3............however i may be biased!
Jeez! Talk about throwing a spanner in the works! Thanks for you view, my lust for this app reignites. How do you run midi into it using AUM, can you just use the matrix like any other app? I have a poly 61 modded so I like Korg.
Sorry
I did say i was biased! I paid 40 quid for the monotron delay when it came out, so 14.99 for an odyssey emulation seems like a bit of a steal. Just had patterning triggering it in AUM & didn't need to use the matrix, it just saw it so midi seems to work O.K.. If there is any combination you would like me to test & i have the apps, i would be happy to test it for you......
EDIT: Just tried triggering Odyssei with Troublemaker using the matrix, & it worked without any hassles, so all good
Excellent! the other chap did mention ghosting and i agree with the guy who said that korg apps are way behind the rest in terms of new features. It currently 15-16 euro i believe so.. i sleep on it.
Thanks again everyone! This forum is awesome.
