  • Great video as always. One thing I found is that you can also import directly from Dropbox to AudioShare using the files app. You can simply drag your Dropbox folders into AudioShare using Files to store them permanently in AudioShare for easy access. It may be faster than using AudioShares download function if you have many files..

  • Is there a way to bulk import Rex files into Stockholm using the Files app, iTunes, or imazing?

  • I would love to dive into this, but it seems such a niche product. It seems so duplicative of Abu Dhabi and Bilbao. And limited to Rex files, which I cannot preview anywhere. And @johnfromberkeley — it does seem really stupid that you can't batch import.

I've always imported all my REX files via iFunbox.
My only complaint is that for the lack of Gadget's proper folder support, things get messy fast.

Indeed, without owning ReCycle, you're limited to pre-made RX2's but there's already a lot out there. At least, Logic Pro and Ableton Live (and in fact most other desktop DAWs) plus a number of audio file players do support the REX format.
Stockholm is absolutely no comparison with Abu Dhabi or Bilbao, it's so insanely more powerful that there's hardly any project I can do without it.
It's also the only halfway acceptable means for using my own sampled instruments in Gadget.

It’s one of those things, where I actually have accumulated tons of REX files that have come with free and purchased sample packs over the years.I am not a reason user, so this is my first opportunity to use them. It seems like a convenient way to get it the sounds. Although your point that it’s an inconvenient way to get at the sounds also rings true.

OK, you've really really intrigued me. First, Ableton and Logic can create REX files ONLY if I have ReCycle as a plugin, correct? I'm really hesitant to dive in and be unable to add my own REX files.
Second, would you point me in the direction of a good Stockholm video?

EDIT: Found a video. This looks pretty interesting, actually.

Only ReCycle (a standalone Win/Mac program) and Reason itself can create REX files.
Any video about DrOctoRex is applicable, as Stockholm is almost a 1:1 copy.

Where do you put them? I don’t see the few that I manually imported in the main gadget folder.

    To the "Gadget 2/Documents" folder.

  • You can make rx2 files with reason lite, which you get if you've bought any korg hardware recently.

Read about this last night on the forums, after I couldn't find any good free tambourine or shaker loops online. Found the box for my microkey, got the software code, installed reason lite, followed the tips, now I'm rexing up a storm with my own loops.

The method described in the video doesn't work in Gadget 3. There is no Import option only Local and iCloud locations. I have one RX2 file in the Local folder and it's grayed out. It doesn't load into Stockholm, after tapping it audio preview plays, nothing more.
Does anyone has success in importing user RX2 files into Stockholm in Gadget 3?

Yes ive managed to get Rex2 files to play in Gadget 3 but in standalone mode only NOT as an AUv3 in a host Daw.

I got mine to work in Gadget by creating a “User Samples” directory in the iCloud Korg Gadget folder, and tapping on the iCloud option in the Rex selector.

The AUV3 version only has Factory and Local options , and I haven’t figured out what “Documents” folder it means in Local…

Been searching for this folder as well...
Once you save one of the presets, the Korg Gadget folder will be automatically created. You can then move RX2 files there.
BTW. It was oversight from my side. The RX2 file in Local folder loads into a loop slot after tapping. Cheers

  • Fixed in the latest Gadget update. Now when you click the download icon in 'Local' when using Stockholm as an AUV3, you can tap on 'Import from others' to access your files. It's so cool to have access to Rex files now in my iOS daws!
