Menace Synth

Anyone bought this yet. Just noticed it at the top of the AB compatible list.

  • Interesting!

  • ....an experimental synth oddity with a refreshingly stark design. From the moment it’s triggered Menace goes off the rails – detuning and going out of phase as you slide your finger over the touch area. A single touch controls thirty voices – drag left and right to change their pitch; drag down to increase the chaos.

  • Got it, bought it. It’s about as minimal as it gets, but I like the the basic sound - very satisfying. Only two oscillator shapes - saw and square wave, but it sounds very expressive to me. Using the chaos slider, it gets very chaotic very quickly. Lots of blank space on the screen - I suspect that there may be further development in the works. Hope so.

Fun already, and the developer is saying he will follow user requests for future development (he says it better “iterating continuously based on [user] feedback”)
    Same dev as Polychord https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/polychord/id402625491?mt=8![]

GUi really appeals. Reminds me a little of some of the op1 synth engines’ minimal vibes. Seems like would be refreshing change and an ideal gui for touchscreens. £5 a little high to take a gamble tho, hopefully Doug’ll take it walkies and shed some light on it..

Just be in contact with the dev to iron out the midi problems he sounds receptive gonna add me to the beta. I can’t currently get my keyboard to work with it had to use Midiflow and tried Rozeta with it no joy.

  • Hopefully he can get the cut off and resonance to show up in AUM CC list.

  • Great story on the making of Menance from the developer:

  • Awsone!

His Polychord was one of the last 32-bit apps I kept installed on my Air 2 after an update to iOS11 knowing it would be 64-bit after I got a reply from the developer. There's just something mesmerising about the sounds it creates, one can easily 'get lost in time' playing around with it :)
