Garage Band - how do I add AU Effects to the Master Channel & does GB have Sub groups?
All I see is the inbuilt Echo and Reverb Can’t see a way to add Au effects to Master Channel
Comments
No, Garageband doesn’t have a proper mixer, subgroups etc.
Add AU effects to a channel by tapping on “plug-ins & EQ”...then tap on “edit” to add AU effects.
Cool but there is no edit tap for the master channel?
Ok thanks for info
Also, be careful with the labeling, GarageBand is slightly confused about terminology... what they call "Master Effects" are actually SEND effects (which are non-configurable apart from a few presets).
Yep I just attempted GB Master effects - echo&reverb - really needs a few more effects at least a limiter
I thought a way around this would be to route GB into AUM then can add effects to a channel in AUM as a Master but GB does not show in the IAA list so i gather I have to export a GB mix though I prefer Mastering adjustments while I mix the project - oh well
This is what I do, GB export to AudioShare then mastering in AUM.
Also FWIW there is a hidden limiter on a hidden master bus in every GB iOS project. If you open the project in Logic...they come to light.
In GarageBand does this limiter have settings set to zero/neutral? If not is it applied during rendering export? Could color the sound and leads to make bad mixes or make mixes different from exports.
