@KING777 - That's awesome, but does your iPad actually function with 3 instances of that going inside AUM?...

    Yep!

Just had 3 going in AUM @ an average 44%, whilst AUM is in play mode.
No glitching, stutter or dropouts (apart from the ones that were programmed into the patches/presets of course) ... we need those ones..

The pics above with 3 instances is 'also' mainly for illustration, (an promotion)

    Mini 2 - 11.4

Impressive, I’ll try it on my Air2 later.

Noticed Turnado runs a lot better as an AU, so maybe they’ve saved some CPU with this one as well.

    Yeah!

Let’s us know (I’m sure you will) the results.

I don’t think I would need to be running more than 3 in a project (the way I’m seeing my workflow) anyway. And 1 instance was and still is amazing, and enough for a project, so..
It’s just great having the option, to have more instances (freedom!).

    —————

Cyclop is deep, the deeper the better for me. I like to have all the options in the world, (or an option to go deeper/advanced) then decide (for myself) which features I will use.

Power users, (of any app) always want full 100... (I know I do).
I have enough discipline to not let it get in the way of being creative and productive.

This is very cool. However, I wait patiently for WOW.

    I wait patiently for Effectrix!

If they boost the size of WOW like they did with Turnado, then I will reinstall/download and see what’s what.

I operate everything by MIDI controller ...

I’m opposite to this. The least amount of equipment (for me) the better. If I’m in the park, I want to be able to switch on my iPad and continue working as I’m used to... the iPad always stays/works the same way, wherever I am, (that way).

I know using iPad in live gigs/shows etc is different (and that’s what you do) so, understandable.

I guess having had a few studios, I’m more happy/comfortable like this (at this time).. etc etc..

    ———

For me using WOW was a little redundant as I have Volcano 2 and Saturn to fill those needs.
WOW is great none the less, hence my future re-download if made larger..

    Enjoy! ✌🏼

    This is my midi controller!

(Well, I also have all sorts of keyboards, pads and misc controllers which I usually use, but I’m purposefully using only Live Coding sequencing for our current setup these days)

I know what you mean about mobile
music though — it’s nice and I played with that ethos myself, but I got to the point that I realised I only used my ‘mobile’ equipment in the one space that I work on performance development!

I’m going to switch out everything I can for fabfilter, but I’ll probably stick with WOW — it’s an old friend these days!

As the saying goes “good luck with that” 👍🏼

It’s good we have so many choices these days, where anyone who wants to do this (music) can get to a comfortable level for themselves and their needs.
Being comfortable with your equipment is key to good performance(s), (stage, studio or otherwise).

    Have fun!

    A mixed blessing, then
The workaround I’ve used in non AU hosts (Tabletop is one) has been to host AUM as IAA in the non-AU host, and host the AU inside AUM...

But we have been forewarned about this, and it’s not the first one, (from SB)
... and won’t be the last..

I know it will affect different users differently, but we can choose, (with a limited option I guess).. but choose none the less.

For me personally, this is when this app(s) will start to get some monies worth of use, (so to speak).

    Enjoy! ✌🏼

  • I noticed this in the App Store notes:

(Attention: Please be aware that with this update already existing Inter-App and Audiobus sessions won’t work anymore!)

Throwing it out there as a caution for anyone that might have active projects set up with AB or IAA. It sounds as if that could require some preparation before updating.

It’s just for highlighting the amount and cpu. Those levels would never make it out on to a mix. 👊🏼

It’s just load up a bunch, snap a shot, delete.

    Thanks.

Slightly bemused why they’ve dropped the standalone version (assuming this is the case) - can see the logic for Turnado, but a bit weird for a synth.

Far less maintenance. Less code too.

Although it is an important topic still, people can look up things like “Gain Staging” it may help you (peeps) with mixing etc..

Yeah I guess that’s the case. Shame, I like running it as a standalone.

Glad they have to be honest. I have a setup for every synth I use in ApeMatrix and the only synths I ever use standalone are the PPG ones that have a cut down AU feature set. Obviously this will not suit everyone.

    Here’s some of my thinking:

    Advantages:
Each synth is saved with a sound I actually use a lot. This can’t be done in all stand alone synths.
Some synths I always use with certain fx, so these are already programmed in.
I have Step Poly Arp Unit on most of the second pages set up for quick sequences.
I can load AUM where I have a drum setup and bass synth all ready to jam with ApeMatrix loaded.

    Disadvantages:
A few more presses to get a sound going.
Some AU versions need better screen use to be as usable as they were standalone.
The host uses some resources, but it really is very little.

  • But they haven't dropped the standalone. It's still the same with multiple audio out and Link, just no audiobus/IAA.
So if you need to connect to other apps use the AU version.

Agreed, the 'busy' UI is a big turn-off for me personally as my eyes are degrading, gimme a 15" iPad and I'll reconsider. I'm in no rush and my monthly 'app budget' is already full so I'll happily wait for the next sale or something :)

I've only got Thesys from the SB stuff, and I'm not a fan of their interface design. Wish they'd discover vector graphics. If you look closely you'll see the text in their apps is blurry. That's because they are using pictures of text, rather than real text generated by the OS. Web developers stopped doing this about 20 years ago.

  • A welcome addition to the AU list. Cyclop is a raging lunatic and I love it even more for that. Plus how can you not love a synth app that has a built-in arcade game?

Here’s to hoping that Factory and Aparillo find their way to iOS land.
