Wow or effextrix
Hi I already have turnado and was wondering out of wow or effextrix which would be reccomended more.

What kind of music do you make? What do you like to do? Effectrix is more versatile since it’s a suite of fx sequenced rhythmically. WOW gives you all the crazy womp womp filter noises and seems to lean towards aggressive processing imo. Both are cool but I don’t end up using WOW too much. That would probably change with AU compatibility.
Effectrix is cool. I never found much use for wow
Wow advocate here. Effectrix is probably better for making loops or for immediate creative satisfaction but Wow is one of the best and deepest live effects I’ve ever used. Its distortion algorithms are lovely too.
Mainly making dance and hip hop some edm.do you think there is overlap between turnado and effextrix
You’re not going to get a straight answer from this bunch over here. It’s because there isn’t one. Watch some online reviews/uses and decide for yourself.
Wow is basically a filter with plenty of built in LFO and distortion.
Effectrix is a multieffect that needs clock input to work. Very similar to Egoist’s effect unit but deeper and with more options. I have both but at the moment I’m only using Turnado
.
Thanks 👍
I’d buy effectrix if it were auv3. I really like that you can sequence effects but I want to do that on individual intruments, not the entire track, hence the need for auv3
Effectrix!

... then WOW...

Turnado and Effectrix operate different enough to have both.
There is a different energy, feel, usage, features and programmability between both..
Thanks for the feedback 👍
I own WOW and never owned Effectix, though it is on sale right now for around $12 U.S., and I did play around with Sequential, which is sort of a 99 cent alternative to Effectrix.
Unless you just don't like distortion or gritty sound effects, WOW is going to have more far reaching, conventional appeal as an FX app. WOW is probably crying out for the AU update even more than Effectrix or Egoist. You can apply WOW to a track as an AudioBus effect, for example, but since so many of these SugarBytes apps come from a DAW/VST background, it's still intended for you to play with the X/Y pads during playback. You can just set it with static settings and play through the effect, however.
Effectix, IIRC is step based, so you basically need a loop of audio content in raw format, and then you can apply a variety of effects to it afterwards. It's sort of the way you apply effects to certain beats on the Pocket Operator devices, if that makes sense. They really are quite different, but I just feel like a lot of what Effectrix does can be handled more conventionally through effects built into a DAW, or in a groovebox/sampler type app (like Egoist).
I would say get WOW NOW because it is a beast of a filter.
Fabfilter Saturn followed by WOW2 on a track means BIG FAT IN YO FACE sounds
You already have Turnado get Effectrix later if you want
Tornado and Effectrix do almost the same thing.
If you want to stick with sugarbytes apps- I would suggest you get Egoist instead of the two you mentioned. But if it had to be one or the other- it has to be WOW to go with Turnado for me.
Effectrix is one of my favorite iOS effects apps, for the creativity it can bring to loops and drums, with the effects you can put on each beat. It is a nice selection of conventional effects and unusual effects. Great loop/chop effects, pitch dives and scratches, resonant delay, bit crusher, etc. Solid behavior with MIDI knob controllers. The fade in and out time for the effects mean it doesn’t have to sound choppy and glitchy, it can sound smooth. The reverb is admittedly so-so. Everything else sounds good. Midi clock sync is dicey. I have to load it in Audiobus LAST, and reselect the midi input for receiving clock. Link is broken in Audiobus. In spite of these problems I use it regularly because it sounds so interesting, and you can quickly make production effects that would be painstaking and time intensive by other means (automation in a DAW).
Thanks for the insight. Well after careful consideration I’ve decided I’m gonna have to get wow and effextrix ha
It was inevitable!
