Tons of new features. But mainly ratcheting, drum kit swapping in a single project, ableton link start/stop, subdividing steps to create even more interesting rhythms, also. You can actually input steps into the sequencer by pressing record and manually triggering sounds via drum pads.
Besides. Don't forget you can link both patterning 1 and 2 to have 16 sounds instead of just 8 to create really interesting drum loops. They both accept midi clock so can slave very well to a daw and both have 8 multi outs so you can have 16 channels of individual drum sounds between them. I use both at the same time. Patterning 1 for vanilla sounds and 2 for more complicated rhythms due to the subdivisions.
The big new feature for me is Tenpo Slew, so when you set a tempo change, you can also set how long it will take to get to that tempo!
@gonekrazy3000 : Did not know that.. So patterning 2 is not merely an update but an entirely separate beast? I take it the p1 tutorials will still apply to p2?
Yep. All the basic tutorials apply. But 2 can get much more complex. Future updates might even give us 128 steps per pattern hopefully.
Yup it's a whole new program... And at first I was a little bummed about that and just wanted it to be an update...
But now that I think about how much I love patterning, and how much this is going to improve its use And make my music better, I'm happy to get it for the pre order price....
Also, since it's not an audio unit now being able to essentially use two instances of patterning is really fkn nice...
Also after the thread about app subscriptions, I'm even more happy to buy this as an app and not a subscription lol... Totally worth it and still get to support the awesome developers of this unique app...
Patterning was the app that got me to the Apple store to buy my iPad so it's always gonna get love from me hehe
Richard devine is killing it. I would love to know how to create these glitchy drums by myself. Do you have any good resource (yt video, website etc.) on how to make these kind of drums.
I have the app Glitch drum but I have seen video with Elastic drums, or in this case patterning where they do these.... so its more like a technique or so
@david_2017 it seems entirely possible to make these kinda drums with patterning 2! Can't wait to find out
