Program Changes in AU

Good afternoon! While I’m waiting for Patterning 2 to drop, I’ve been trying to send program changes to a synth. I did a search here for “Program Changes in AU”, then read what came up. I couldn’t find anything to address this issue. I’m not sure if it’s an issue across all synths...

I opened apeMatrix empty and added an instance of Kauldron AU. I built a Xequence track with a PC at the beginning followed by some random notes. The output of the Xequence track is routed to apeMatrix. In apeM, I have the source set to apeMatrix and it’s routed to the instance of Kauldron. When I play the Xequence track, the notes play but the PC has no effect.

If I delete the instance of Kauldron AU and add a Kauldron IAA Instrument it works perfectly.

My question seems obvious, but I can’t see where anyone else is talking about it:

Is it true that AUs don’t honor program change messages? I opened PREFs in the Kauldron AU and they are set exactly the same as the IAA version.
