  • Thanks @gusgranite

Would be great if others could sign up and encouraging comments.

Just please don't bombard him with loads of other requests

  • I've never been into trackers, but if I don't have to use the tracker sequencer, I may just buy it. :-)

Modular effects and instruments sound interesting

  • There's so many good things about this. Not the least being able to transfer your projects from sunvox iOS AUv3 hosted in eg AUM to Sunvox VST in a desktop DAW afterwards. :)

Yeah according to his post, I assume Mac as well but he didn't give any other details etc

Oh, in the future. I thought you meant it was there already. Got me excited enough to bust out the ‘ol PC. That doesn’t happen very often these days. ;)

Yeah, he's working on them all at once I think but didn't give a release date or anything. But then PC standalone Sunvox is still worth bustin out the PC for I guess in preparation :)

  • This is super news! I havent used Sunvox for a while, but I find it great for sound design. U can get some really cool sounds with its FM synth and mixing all the various effects. Also really fun to link all the modules by touch on iOS..

  • Epic indeed. This would definitely make me pick up the SV torch again.

  • I can see this as not being too far out. He already has SunVox as a library that can’t be linked to from another program and it’s used in other projects. Shouldn’t be too much of a stretch to wrap that up into a VST/AU package. And once that’s done, AUv3 should be a piece of cake.

  • Woah. I am a born and bred tracker kid of the 80s/90s... yet i have not used Sunvox. This shall be the kick in the pants.

  • I'm a bit unclear on what exactly an AUv3 Sunvox would actually mean. Would it be 'just' AUv3 instruments, or would you be able to use metamodules with MIDI sequences?

My gut says it will be a complete SunVox instance in a window :)
This means we can create what ever we like, effects, mod-players, samplers/synths etc.
(One could for example create a SunVox file with a bunch of 2OP FM or other patches and then choose one or more of them and enable their midi-input for totally massive layers).

    That is my hope too.

But, to temper your expectations a little. NightRadio does push out fantastic updates but they do take time, and he mentioned VST over a year ago. This is the first time I heard him mention AU.

So it may not be just around the corner. Just saying..

I'm in no rush at all because I know it will be worth the wait :)

Agreed, I just didn't want the hyperbole to get people all riled up. With Audulus promising something similar we could be in for a very interesting future.

Since SunVox can already load instances of itself within itself (MetaModules) it seems logical that an AUv3 SunVox would work in the same way. This means not only instruments, but also FX and MIDI in and out. Anyything can be wrapped up in a module, so I can’t imagine NR doing a wrapper in any other way. Pretty freaking exciting if you ask me.

  • For me this will make the most usable and deepest iOS daw experience, hosting Sunvox in apeMatrix or AUM.
Looking forward to Audulus AU too.

One idea would be to load up SunVox and Rozeta in an AU host like AUM, then use SunVox's linear sequencing capability to record MIDI from Rozeta.

Later on, open up the recorded MIDI sequence in SunVox and edit the sequence to taste.

  • Whoa! I think I just stumbled across the ultimate SunVox controller for live gigs!

Is that from an episode of ALF?

  • Nope. Keep guessing.

This guy truly smokes on this thing.

  • That’s gonna take some time. Such a complex app

  • @wim That’s from some rural Minnesota based backwoods pseudo kid-show, right? Had that stout fellow with the dusky voice, too. Some memories are definitely bubbling up from the depths.

  • Time to finally learn this bastard!
