I'm definitely impressed by everyone's tracks this month.
I'm relatively new to the forum and to music production and ios in general. This is my first IOS track. Please roast me.
Feedback for everyone's submissions is below.
@richardyot
I really liked the lyrics in this track. Also dug the harmonies you have in there. I'think you picked/performed some really great sounds that fit nicely in this track.
@theconnactic
Love that snare, and shaker. That reggae vibes and marimba, Count me in. The vocals here are top notch.
@Spidericemidas
Really nice delays and reverbs here. This is the song I was listening while chilling on the deck this morning with my coffee. So many ideas in this track that flow into one another throughout the track. Loved it.
@icsleepers
Dope vocal samples. Creates a lot of tension with the laid back vibes mixed with the distorted drums.
@barabajagal
Cool track. What apps do you use to achieve this sort of thing? I was bopping my head to this one. Definitely edgy while still being super musical and listenable.
@obijohn
It's very rare that i will think bitcrushed stuff sounds good, but you convinced me. How did you go about modulating that filter throughout the track? This song keeps driving forward in such a badass way.
@trackedout
Love the brass sound. Where is it from? Did you play the guitar and bass yourself or are they samples? Nice recording. Nice vocals.
@Bartlinux
Snare, hand drum pattern in the intro is great. Loved both the breakdowns.
@studs1966
I love that latin house track. Very nice.
@crouchie
That pluck/keys sound playing the chords was nice. What did you use to get that sound.
@LucidMusicInc
You really have a handle on making the most out of Gadget. Seriously impressive. This track sounds pro. Sigh, I'm going to have to buy Lexington and Stockholm now.
@crouchie Thanks! Glad you like it.
@richardyot thx got the feedback. The solo trumpet was intentional and meant to, in a loose jazzy way, emulate elements of the mlk speech. I’d been playing with the idea of individual, standout instruments/vocals. Not sure what you mean about the drums not matching, they should be speaking the language of standard D&B and they’re the ones I wanted.
Good feedback, it’s good to talk about stylistic choices.
The tracks in here are great, keep em coming!
@LucidMusicInc Really cool track. I liked the part at 4:06 with just the kick and bass, it had a very clean sound to it. It did make me wish that the loops blended together a bit more rather than the sudden change from one to another, but I do think it worked well as a whole. I just got Gadget and I’m really digging some of the sounds you can get with it, and have been listening to more Gadget tracks to immerse myself more. Some are, well... not so great. Yours was right up my ally, very much enjoyed listening to this! Oh, one thing I noticed was some clipping, I think maybe some of your levels might have been too hot. Just something to watch out for. Otherwise, yeah, awesome work! I listened to it 3 times in a row
Thank you some of the clipping is intentional as I’m going for that over saturated old school groove box sound at the moment, but this track does leave many things to be desired. It’s more of a sketch for future ideas to follow. I figured I’d just release it to move on to other things and come back to it later possibly. I’ve just released another song sketch on the channel here and I’ve got a one hour continuously mixed album here.
And for more here is my bandcamp discography where I’ve uploaded 2 years worth of Korg Gadget tracks, many of which have undergone a lot more production than these latest demos. Welcome aboard the Gadget train if you have any questions or you post any tracks please let us know!
@richardyot I like your track alot. Your part of vocals mix well.. it reminds me of something I can't quite put my ginger on. Anyways great work
Thanks! I need to review your track, I will try to get to it today.
@Martyreasoner hey thank u I appreciate it. I play everything myself brass was from auria.. vocals were sampled.jk .I tend to overcomplicate my tracks . U just got lucky to hear my most mellow and simple track
Hi All,
This is my first time putting a track up on here. It is an ambient/dark ambient track all done in iOS. Hope you enjoy it and I am open to any and all comments, criticisms, opinions, etc.
Really like this track and it’s fun summer vibe. Love the harmony part too.
Enjoyed this track a lot. Especially liked the drum and bass parts. Fantastic!
Cool, I like it - wondering what apps you used? I wouldn't even know where to start with this genre lol... great texture though
Thanks! The apps used were Audiobus, Auria Pro and Soundscaper (for the birdlike sounds). Most of the droney/textural sounds came from layering bass guitar parts->EQD Afterneath pedal ->Auria Pro, and then several of the FabFilter plugins in Auria.
A SpaceCraft, Gestrument Pro duet! With a sprinkling of Phosphor 2.
@trackedout This one is much more mellow and laid-back than many of your other songs, and the soft vocal suits it perfectly. There's still quite a bit of looseness in the background, particularly the bass, but not as frantic as it can be.
I've no idea what you're singing about, but the mumbled vocal sounds pretty cool anyway. It's an enjoyable track with a mellow groove and a slight air of melancholy, and enjoyable listen.
Really enjoyed listening to this. Had a lot of movement and interesting sounds to keep the listener entertained for the whole 11 minutes, it really flew by. As an ambient music creator and deadhead I am definitely biased, but it's great to hear interesting, longer songs with vocals. I especially liked the vocals and the break at about the 6:04 mark.
Very cool! Some awesome sounds in there and great job on the mix!
I like this and concur! I had the same issue as others with it only being on the left channel though.
High gear and then some! Damn this makes me want to go out and go for a run. Very cool synth sounds and I hear what you are saying with the mix being a little muddy. It seems to get that way when the drums kick in and then the drums overall are a little low to me. Not sure how to fix that, but I'd probably start by exploring compression settings
Really cool! Love how this track comes together as a cohesive song. Bass and horns sound really serve the song well.
Thank you very much. At the moment I struggle with controlling track lengths vs. the content and ideas I want to include. Still trying to find the right balance.
Very nice!
Well done for putting your first track up on here. My entry for this month was also the first time I’ve participated in this monthly thread. Glad I’m not the only new one here!
I enjoyed your track a lot, as this is an area of electronic music I’d like to have a go at myself. I like the drone type stuff. To me it was super dark, oppressive and spooky, in a good way. I had images of David Lynch’s “Eraserhead” movie in my mind while listening. Interesting to see the apps you mentioned and the workflow that you used for this. Thanks for sharing here!
A SpaceCraft track - SWEET! This is very meditative and atmospheric, and even a bit tense in places. Could also be the sound track for a movie scene like exploring a dangerous mysterious submerged cave or shipwreck, probably influencing my imagination with the watery sounds. Your track won me over right away with the watery sounds, I love the sound of water, rain, waves, flowing streams etc in music. I have SpaceCraft and many other granulars and sound manglers, I really want to explore this type of music more myself. Good work! Thanks for sharing!
From one Gadget lover to another...well done and nice work! A great minimalist type groove indeed. How are you getting on with Stockholm? Have you been able to get many other Rex files into it besides the presets included? I haven’t had much luck so far, and am looking for good file sources and the way to download and get them into Stockholm.
@Spidericemidas Thanks for the interest I think Gestrument Pro is due out next month so worth getting as there are a few of these sounds in there that the devs added to the library yesterday.
Google Rhythmlab. Hundreds of free breaks. We’re waiting on Korg or Propellerheads to give us some means of importing our own on commercial Rex files. I’ll be uploading more Stockholm tutorials and demos. Pretty straightforward if you don’t try doing anything too crazy with it.
Great! Thanks for the pointers.
@richardyot Hey thanks for hearing it. It's in Spanish, a love song. First of its kind for me1
I got the Rhythmlab from @Samu. You can get a lot done with the factory loops as well although a lot of them are rubbish. I’m hoping the partnership with Propellerhead can mean we’ll get some of those Refills for Gadget.
Yeah, it seems a bit strange to just dump something like a Rex player into Gadget without much further support for using it to its full potential or having a means of converting our own files into Rex format within the iOS environment. I’m iOS based only. No PC/Mac or Laptop. That’s the point of having Gadget on iOS. I’ve tried certain other sites for obtaining files not just Rex files, like Splice for example, but it turns out not possible to download into iPad directly. So I’m hoping the Korg/Propellerheads collab will turn up something for iOS to make the best use out of Stockholm. Stockholm is quite an intriguing partnership and an odd thing to suddenly put into Korg Gadget which is generally quite a closed environment itself, and considering the Rex format dates back to desktop stuff from the 90’s. I’m sure they must have some plans to develop and support this gadget more in the future.
You can download to Audioshare or Dropbox from any website in Safari or Chrome. From there just unzip and import, but it would have to be one at a time. An online Rex converter would be great. But actually I’m getting more use out of Reslice nowadays and just loading chopped wavs into Bilbao. To be fair Stockholm actually brings nothing new to Gadget unless you already had a Rex library.
I love this. Great work! I’m not familiar with Gestrument or Phosphor and will definitely check those out. SpaceCraft is amazing

Very true. I like the workflow with Bilbao. I’m currently chopping up some DnB drum loops from old Retronyms packs and restructuring/randomising them more in Bilbao for a new track idea. I have Reslice but haven’t used it much. Nice idea, I will have a go with it. Cheers! Keep up the great work with Gadget!
