@VirSyn the recent updates have been awesome additions to an already super duper app. Thank you!
@Yalexein @VirSyn good job improving the robustness of EXS imports.
@Virsyn Nevermind got it to work
@VirSyn thanks very much for the update.everything working good
I just noticed that now you can also move presets between Banks.
Thanks very much
Great to see this update that will spur more AudioLayer sales while it's on Sale.
Thanks for pushing me to getting Virsyn apps.
Got Reslice, and Audiolayer, and Samplr during this sale. Audiolayer has given me hope about moving forward from IAA apps, and a global app base.
Here's what I'm thinking...a lot of the apps I use mainly for the sound effects like FM Player, D1, Sensual, some Gadget sounds, etc, I'm thinking of sampling them and moving them directly to Audiolayer.
But I know this is going to be a long process. Any tips on how you did yours?
I'm slowly finding myself enjoying scripting iOS apps (currently using Shortcuts, and Pythonista). Actually did not expect this. It's both fun and hard figuring things out, but it feels awesome when it does work.
SynthJacker can make fast samplesets of AUv3's or any external audio hardware that
accepts MIDI. It has options to correctly name the files for root note, velocity that just magically import off the note names into layers. So SynthJacker is the "lazy fucks" tool for an AudioLayer fast pass.
To sample IAA apps I just use an audio interface and record from another IOS device (iPhone) or I use physical audio loopbacks on the audio interface and can sample Animoog, etc. (I suspect the synthjacker guy is trying to find an API to allow IAA app recording but he may have moved on from that request).
For me the importing of EXS24 and SFZ often brings in sounds of lower quality than the Apps
I can sample in AUv3 form (iSymphonic, Ravenscroft, etc) and make them lighter in resource consumption with a trade off of layers or the number of samples required for a reasonable instrumental clone.
SynthJacker... lots of threads available to use to open a dialogue and find the guru's and figure out with settings to use for AudioLayer, NS2, or SF2 DAW targets.
Thanks for the update @VirSyn
Just to clarify, I have all my instruments in the iCloud folder. If I turn off iCloud storage, what happens, nothing?
I don’t want to lose all my GBs of instruments, so just checking....
So if I want to move my instruments off iCloud folder I should move these folders to the on your iPad AL folder?
It’s a bit confusing currently how this works.
Oh brilliant, glad a multi sampler is coming, just what is needed in the app
@VirSyn, @White That sounds very good!
AL gets better and better. The only thing I'm still missing is better sample management.
It's still hard to know what's going on, which samples are in which folders - I know there have to be workarounds to make the files available to both the standalone and the AUv3 but I'd like to see what I'm doing.
Woow!
You can switch between local and iCloud without doing harm to anything.
If you want to transfer your instrument to local storage you can't just copy the folders.
But you can transfer them one by one:
1) Switch to the iCloud version.
2) Select instrument to copy
3) Save instrument with "Make a local copy of instrument and associated samples" switched on.
4) repeat 2) and 3) with all instruments
@VirSyn Multisampler looks great! Is the parameter automation on horizon?
iCloud only works if you have very small instruments and/or a fast enough internet connection. Unfortunately I don't.
iCloud for syncing contacts or schedules is great of course.
If anybody knows how to set up a local iCloud-compatible server in the home network, please tell me!
Would it work to make a copy of everything in the directory (last option under zip share) and then reimport with cloud storage off?
Uups, yes indeed. This should work of course. This idea should have come from me :-)
Not sure if this in your plans but would love to see multi out support for layers in Audiolayer @virsyn
Yes! This would be amazing!
Version 1.2.0 is out:
Definitely glad I got in early and made it to this point. I really appreciate the extra labor adding these great features in updates. Truly epic. I can envision filling massive amounts of storage making huge sounding instruments from AUv3 combo's in AUM.
Me too. I'm glad that person called @McD kept going on about how Audiolayer was a great app.
I’m having some issues with the auto sampler. It’s very difficult to get the right settings to pick up when you touch them, for instance if you set the lowest note then try to set another setting like upper note, velocity stops, etc, the lowest note will continue to be adjusted. Moving the w in AUM between each attempt seems to help somewhat.
Also, even though I set more than one velocity step, only one records.
Can’t change from loop to one-shot in the AU, only in the standalone.
Can’t use the standalone instead in AUM because there doesn’t seem to be a way to set up the midi out to go anywhere.
I’ll have to try in another host tomorrow to see if it goes better. I hope these things get worked out because the auto sampling is rad.
yes, there seems to be some problems with the user interface if the AU Window is small. Make it as big as possible and then most of the problems should go away. I'm looking into these issues and try to fix them.
The velocity steps work here, i get one recording per step.
You can have on shots by setting the sustain time to less than 1 second. In this case AL assumes that you want to have one shots and doesn't try to loop the sustain phase.
At the moment the auto sampler only works with the Music Effect AudioUnit, not with the stand alone.
Wow, thank you so much for the quick answer. Yes, when I went back in with maximum window size it did let me change most things, even from loop to one shot for multiple zones. 👍
1 second is too short for some samples it doesn’t make sense to loop, such as a guitar pluck, so I do need to be able to sample more than one second then turn off looping. As long as I can now get to that setting, I’m good.
No way I can get multiple velocity steps though. IPad Air 2 latest iOS. Trying to sample Korg iM1. I can upload a screen recording if that would help.
Here’s a video of what happens for me...
https://www.dropbox.com/s/s5ipoo3i48t0vzz/RPReplay_Final1585299082.MP4?dl=0
Same happens here. Seems that last note needs to be exactly set...
Set the end note to A#5 (which is the last note samples) instead of A5 than it works...
..have fixed this here already
The total sample time is Sustain + Release. The sustain time is just the time the note is On.
@VirSyn Thanks for the autosample feature. One bug I noticed is that you can't edit the instrument settings while the transport is playing anymore. Also, if you have instrument settings open, AudioLayer closes that screen and goes back to sample layout if transport starts.
