Help Korg Gadget select/zoom

I am really trying to do something in Gadget. Am I losing my mind or is there no way to select all notes in a pattern or I’m limited to only viewing 8 bars at a time? I have 16 bars and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to select all notes or zoom in far enough to see 16 bars.

  • Yep, 8 bars is the most on Gadget. No matter how much you zoom out, it will just stop at 8 bars.

ah yes, the joys and wonders of Gadget's limitations! you can select all the notes though, drag a marquee selection around the notes in the first 8 bars, then scroll over (2 finger scroll) to the last 8 bars and tap on each note to select them while keeping previous notes held too. Tedious.

  • @Halftone Thanks!!! That worked.

Why in God’s name can’t they freaking bring this into the 20th century. I mean how hard would it be to double tap to select all? Or why what is the reason behind the limit of only seeing 8 bars?

I’m trying to love you here Gadget, but man.

I think it has something to do with the fact that if one uses short notes (ie. 1/64th or so) those are ~1 pixel in width when zoomed to 8 bars or so.

Yeah and remember that the app is scaled so that Iphone users can use it even on the wimpy SEs and 5Ss. Select all would be good. @Chaztrip see the scale button at the bottom? Select the played notes, which will make it easier for you to drag over those notes. I've been on Korg's case for a bit about letting us loop multiple scenes so the 16 bar loops aren't necessary but you know... They put out Gadget for Switch instead.

  • Fortunately it has good MIDI IN so your selection of alternative sequencers is endless :)

Hehe, what about automation of all Gadget parameters using external sequencers then?

Sure if Gadget would send midi-out those parameters could be recorded in for example Xequence but one would have to limit the number of knobs used ;)

  • @Samu Gadget allows automation of all synth parameters. In a synth, just press the "Function" button to list all CCs. It doesn't need MIDI out, you can just use the CC number in your favorite sequencer (for example, Xequence ;)). Yes in Xequence you're limited to 12 knobs per synth but if you're that demanding, you'll probably be producing music on a desktop system anyway :D

I like to tweak the knobs in Gadget ;)

  • @Samu but then you're missing out on many more and better control modes (motion, gating, key touch position, etc.), along with a much larger and more configurable keyboard ;)

Korg should consider hiring you ;)

Dude this whole track is being sequenced by Xequence. I think that I have it figured out. I’m just going to use Xequence for everything including the automation. 😁

  • @Chaztrip are you now also making fun of me just like @Samu, or is that actually the case? :#

  • @SevenSystems Sir. You know I love your app. ❤️
