Internal routing in Cubasis?

Let’s say I want to do a live bounce of Ruismaker FM to a separate audio track. What would be the best way of going about doing that? The routing section doesn’t give many options.

    1. Freeze the track
    2. Make a empty new audio track
    3. Drag frozen audio to new track that you just made.
    4. Unfreeze track to continue to work with midi in Rusemaker

At least that’s how I do it...if I’m understanding your question correctly

You did. That’s a great idea - I’ve not had a lot of luck with freezing tracks in Cubasis in prior versions which is why I suggested a live bounce but I’ll give this a shot.

  • You can route Cubasis back into Cubasis with Audiobus.

  • The default freeze works for 99% of the cases for the remaining 1% check the different freeze options (Real-Time and Compatibility Mode) under mix down if the freeze is not satisfactory (some AUv3 effects for example require compatibility or real-time mode until updated).

Freeze might not be enabled if there are no midi-eventes on the track (for example if one is driving a AUv3 plug-in with a Rozeta Midi Plug-In). In those cases add an empty midi-event covering the section to be frozen.

Is it also possible to freeze audio tracks with AU effects or only midi tracks?

Yepp, I use it all the time when I process samples thru effects to create new samples :)

  • I froze audio with 3 AU effects no problem.

  • Can you easily split an audio part in several little parts and apply different time stretch / pitch shift and reverse settings to each of them, like in GarageBand?

    It's quite easy too.
Use the scissors to chop up an audio-event at the locator.
Then select one of them and use the stretch function to it.(icon under the ? mark).

Reverse it's a bit tricky as you'd have to 'trim' the section before you can reverse it.

Unfortunately Cubasis does not auto-select the 'audio event' when entering the sample/audio-editor meaning some manual trimming is needed but it can be done.

That sounds good, thanks for answers :)

There is no need for this, just unset the Arranger option in Setup that deletes Audio tracks at unfreeze!

Wow! Never notic s that option! Thanks!!!

The first I do with any App, is to check any detail of the settings page ;)

Yeah...I’ve been I’ve been using Cubasis for over a year...never even thought to look at that option. Admittedly, I’m a dive in first and then RTM when I hit a wall. My new Moog Grandmother is the 1st piece of gear I’ve ever owned that I RTM before playing. I’ve owned a few synths...but, patch points are a new thing for me.

I do try to RTFM when ever I can too :)

However I do wish there was an option to directly 'freeze/render selection to new track' or directly to a 'Mini Sampler Instrument' but or at least an option to disable the 'dialogue' when un-freezing and/or leaving the audio on the new track would be nice.

  • You can also route a midi track to an audio track, live, if its an iaa app you’re gonna use.
