August Sound Design Fest- Moog Model 15
Hey all! The winner of the August sound design poll was Moog Model 15! I have volunteered to take over the administrative responsibilities from @richardyot since I love this synth so much.
I want to kick off this month a little different. There are already several resources out there for Model 15 patch sharing including a Facebook group and I have tried my best to accumulate patches for this synthesizer because when this synth hits home, it is magic. That being said, here is the link to all of the banks that I have saved up since I started to use this synth (excluding in app purchases, you should just buy them all to support these guys). I also added my favorites bank which contains my go to sounds for compositions:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fmza3ke1tvqr0nt/AAC4CczC-sgWCrHfLyOxD5tta?dl=0
It took me forever to figure out how to import patches and banks so in case you did not know it is:
Drop Box -> Export File -> Open In -> Copy to Model 15
This will prompt you to save the bank as and then will import

Don't forget that a 2 finger double tap will make the cables see through.
If you want to share patches with the forum please send them to me either via a drop box link that I can download or directly to my email at [email protected]. Patches or banks are fine, I will accumulate them all at the end of the month.
I realize this is not an easy synth, but it is old enough that I am sure there are users on this forum with sounds/ knowledge to share about this fantastic synth and plenty of people like me who are eager to learn. Let's get this party started!
P.s. if anyone has the original Model 15 Manual I have been looking for it for ages. Found it once, and then never found it again. I hear it is a great resource. Please share it if you have it. Thanks!
Comments
I found the original manual and have added it to the drop box link above. Enjoy!
I'm glad Model 15 made it. It really deserves some love.
Also thanks to @richardyot and @shiftsynth1
This is already fantastic. - I've got a handful of patches I'll contribute for sue. Hopefully I'll have a chance to make some more before the month's end.
Thanks a ton, @shiftsynth1!
Exciting! Got a handful of patches as well, but looking forward to exploring more ways to wreak havoc/make beauty with this baby.
Nice resources
kick off way to start it all off!
Here's two crazy patches to start things up with...
(I'm in a creative low at the moment but will try and contribute at least a few more).
First one is called Comatose and was one of the first presets I actually saved.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/n59jriay1qigfrs/COMATOSE.m15p?dl=0
Next one is more traditional, decided to call it SIDDER.
Play your favourite C64 game themes with it or just drone a low note.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kqm5t0y9w12izuj/SIDDER.m15p?dl=0
(Bonus, 4 bar loop with 3 instances of the SIDDER patch thru perforator AUv3).

Looking forward to more crazy stuff

Happy patching!
Awesome. I don't have to buy an app to not participate.
Or bitch and moan that the app chosen isn't on sale
I have this App and I can still not participate for free.
Awesome stuff. I’m gonna love August
I think I'll focus on creating a master patch that is easy to tweak for many different types of sounds without too much re-patching
(Especially like the 'Clamp Trig' to set the start phase of the 921 when using it as an LFO).
One downside of Model 15 is though that it makes my Air 2 run uncomfortably hot to touch so I need to keep the patch-cration session shortish or find some way too cool it down.
Who knows maybe the old-style laptop coolers will work with the iPad too
I've tried to get back into Model 15, but I feel like I've maxed out my creativity on what to do with the modular. So I just study that big amazing pack that has notes and does incredible things I'd never think of.
It's still the highest-quality sounding synth on iOS though.
Cool, ive spent a lot of time on Model 15 lately, here (if the link works and ive done everything right) are some of the results__40 Drum sounds -Bass drums, Snare drums, Hi Hats, Crash and Ride Cymbals, Tom Toms, Timpani, Claves and more..

40 Basses coming soon also.
enjoy

@Samu, nice little feedback set-up thru the amps on comatose..
It was the first patch I ever saved in Model 15
I always end up tweaking and tweaking and sometimes forget to save...
@shiftsynth1, I’ve been going thru your misc bank and the noonien bank.. some cool sounds.. noticed your cymbal needs lil less square wave (level) and some more splashy noise.. very complex sound to make especially with the limited amount of modules here.. sample and hold, freq/clock divider and more envelopes would be helpful for cymbals.. good work though..still going thru your sounds now.. Cheers
Those patches were not actually developed by me. I have gathered them from free patch sharing groups around the internet. Appreciate the feedback, and solid points. Just wanted you to know.
Is it possible to import whole zip archives as banks or so?
Or do you use iTunes to import these patches here?
Ah ok, cheers @shiftsynth1.. the 40 drum sounds I’ve put up, I made. And each with a description. Hope you like.
@david_2017, Yes it’s possible to import banks straight into the Model 15. I had to install the drop box app, fairly simple, then I click on a link (in this thread) hit small tab on top right - select export, then select open in, then (i think) Model 15 opens and asks ‘import bank’ _ select ‘yes’ and that’s it, you have a new bank of sounds.
@RUncELL has it, using the drop box app will make this process the most smooth for you. I will aggregate all of the Audiobus forum patches into a single bank but the banks I have up right now you will want to download one at a time via drop box.
@RUncELL @shiftsynth1
Thank you guys! I knew i was missing something. These banks have another suffix - I see
One question as a modular super noob. I love this video and of course The Sound of it
Since model 15 is modular too. I was counting one and one together and hoped this is possible with model 15... is it? Thanks guys!
Here is the video
I am relatively new to modular synthesis as well but there are two things to note:
1) this is eurorack, so inherently moog will have it's own distinct sound so even if the concepts are the same and you develop an almost exact replica of this patch on the model 15 it will not sound exactly the same
2) this rack has more modules than the model 15. I suspect most of them are effects which are pointless for ios since you can just route the model 15 through any number of effect apps. But still, using the model 15 alone i doubt it is possible to replicate this exact sound.
However! The Model 15 is incredibly versatile, you can route midi and audio into it to manipulate sound and pair it with effects on the back end of the signal chain. I have no doubt that with some experimentation you can easily get this type of drone going, it won't be exact though.
In case anyone is looking for some drones or pads, This guy has some great presets for $1. Buy the track, send the guy an email via the contact bottom right link and he will email you the presets. I picked these up a few days ago and there are some fantastic ones in there.

You’re comparing 2/3000 £€$ to a £15 app.. in fact just one of those modules could cost more than an iPad and the model 15 app together... BUT I think the model 15 can almost get there.. as we have Audiobus and fx too.
Edit_ for anyone interested Colin benders will take you on some marathon journeys

I’m working on a few myself. Hope to have a good 10 or so this weekend.
This is very exciting. Thank you so much for sharing!
What’s the best way to save these all in one as a bank?
@david_2017, this drone harmonics video using Model 15 hardware is good to start with, since you can see where the cables are going for the most part. It is pretty straightforward to recreate in the app, a good learning experience.
If you have the Dropbox app, then you are good to go..if not - download it (free 2gb) from App Store.
Then come back to this thread and click on link - Dropbox opens
Tap on the small tab (top right) and tap export,
Another box opens - tap ‘open in’ __ and select model 15,
Model 15 opens with a ‘Yes/No box, asking ‘Do you want to import bank’__ Select YES and that’s it .
Be great if someone could let me know weather my link works or not, they should import as a bank - not one sound at a time..many thanks.
They do not open / import as a bank from the link you provided. When tapped it opens a Dropbox dialog with a list of all the sounds with no option to export / open in the whole collection at once.
I have them as single patches, if you want to share the bank there is an option in the app to "share the selected bank". However, I will aggregate all of the patches into one bank at the end of the month and the workflow only changes marginally if it is single patches or a bank so up to you if you want to mess with it.
