Lumbeat Ableton Link still broken?
Old projects in BM3 that used to work like a charm now seem broken using the various Lumbeat apps. I can’t get Soft Drummer to start at all. I know that Start/Stop was broken with the advent of iBassist, but I thought that the latest Lumbeat updates had fixed this. Anyone else having problems with this? It all seems pretty iffy for the time being - sometimes things work, sometimes not.

Start/stop with Ableton Link is working for me in Audiobus 3. I don't have Beatmaker 3. Start/Stop of SoftDrummer is not working for me via IAA from MultiTrack DAW (other drum machines with IAA work fine with MT Daw; so I don't think that it is a MT Daw issue) -- and in some other apps with IAA (like Cubasis): start/stop kind of works but the playback start is off by a beat.
I've tried reporting via their bug report form but have no idea if they get the reports as I've never had a response from LUMBeat. Love the app and wish that I could get it to play nice with MT Daw which is my preferred sketchpad.
@espiegel123 thanks - thought it was just me!
Hi. We are very involved these days in updates.
If Link Start / Stop is activated, IAA will not work, so iIf you need to start / stop with IAA, just disable Ableton Link - Start / Stop.
@espiegel123 Yes, we receive your bug report, sorry for the slow response, we keep working on it.
Great! Thanks. I love the app. If you need any additional information, please let me know.
The iBassist update you just dropped was most excellent! Thank you for taking feedback and thank you thank you for the Bassline randomizer. 👍
@LuisMartinez: FWIW, the problem with MultiTrack Daw happens even if Ableton Sync is off. Interestingly, Soft Drummer will set the tempo to the MultiTrack DAW tempo. But it doesn't seem to recognize the start/stop. I would be happy to beta test when you think you have it working.
I notice that Soft Drummer doesn't display the full IAA transport palette when MT Daw is connected to it.
@LuisMartinez -thanks for the response. So, just to be clear: if I’m in BeatMaker 3, I will need to disable link in Soft Drummer, BeatMaker 3, or both? Just trying to make sure.
I don't know BeatMaker, I use to work and test with AUM, Auria Pro, Cubasis or Garage Band. If BeatMaker didn't implement Ableton Start / Stop yet and you need to Start Stop together, disable it from Soft Drummer to work IAA Start / Stop.
@espiegel123 as i told to ALB, i use to work and test with AUM, Auria Pro and Cubasis and don't know MultiTrack Daw. Try restarting Soft Drummer. Could you test it on AUM, Auria Pro or Cubasis ? If you can send a little video to lumbeat[at]gmail.com would help.
@LuisMartinez I can do a video for you, please PM me an email address to which I can email a link. It might take me a few days. i believe that tried before and after powering down.
Fwiw , another user here posted that he sees the same behavior I did when using AUM.
I am sure that the MultiTrack DAW developer would send you a promo code. I saw an exchange on his forum with another user that reported it that he was interested in being in touch with you. MT DAW is a great simple MultiTrack recorder.
Thanks for the response. I turned off start/stop in SD while in BM3 and it now works fine.
Hi @LuisMartinez . Just confirmed that powering down the iPad (2018 with iOS 11.4.1) that I see the same behavior.
Try this:
1) launch SoftDrummer and choose Simple Breat. Make sure Ableton Link is off
2) load it into AUM as an IAA instrument. (with Ableton Link off in AUM)
3) Set a tempo in AUM
4) record enable track
5) click record then stop after a bit
6) open recorded file in AudioShare (or any other audio editor)
—OBSERVE: the audio does not start with the kick drum that should play at the start. The first audio is about 1 beat into the file.
Btw, as a test I also did a session where I loaded Drum Jam into another track. Its audio starts where one expects which rules out AUM cutting off the beginning.
When I tried it in Cubasis, I got a variety of results. Sometimes the first beat or so was missing but sometimes the audio started a little late and the tempo was rushed or a beat and then settled down as if it started late and tried to catch up.
With MultiTrack DAW, the Soft Drummer just never starts. Strangely, if you start SoftDrummer manually and switch to MT Daw and start recording, Soft Drummer stops when play is pressed in DAW. Other drum apps work as expected in mt daw.
I can send you a link to a video of the AUM behavior if you PM me your email address.
@espiegel123 Cool. Got it, the first note missing it's fixed, update will be available next week.
Thanks for the report!
@LuisMartinez how about start not working from MultiTrack DAW?
