iPad monkStep meets 70's TAPE Cassette Recorder │ Amida - haQ attaQ
What it looks like when an iPad meets a 70's tape recorder! Amida is a vocoder infused progressive Dubstep track, heavily inspired by Tibetan monk throat-singing. I call it “Monk Step” AmidA started as a remix of one of my earlier works named “Amitabha (Amitābha)” that I published four years ago. Yup it took four years to finish this "masterpiece". I’ve never taken so long to finish a track ever and I’m hoping I’ll never take this long with tracks in the future. Apps used in the production of this track: Steinberg Cubasis, KORG Gadget, Auxy, Virsyn Harmony Voice & iVoxel and more.

Nice Jacob
Cool sounds. I think I like the dropbox version better. What makes the throat singing patch?
Cool cassette videography! Cassettes are mos definitely trending now. Brings back a lot of fond memories. Not enough to make me start using cassettes again, but...
Four years on a masterpiece! Grueling, but, as happenstance would have it, I just yesterday finished a tune I first started in 2000, and the project before that was a tune I first wrote in 1996! Been on a major reclamation quest lately. Why does finding the time take such a long time sometimes?
excellent, Jakob, the whole package
I was also thinking about reviving my old tape recorder (cassettes), have some tapes laying around with recording sessions from late eighties to mid nineties and I wonder if these will still play and work, maybe I can even make them sound a bit better now
(I'm also way to slow, getting from thinking to actually doing, and it also takes years sometimes to make things really happen)
That’s me. All vocals including vocally sounding synths where made by me singing or talking through VirSyn’s iVoxel (vocoder) or Harmony Voice (harmoniser). I’ve the. Heavily edited that audio and layered several voices on top o eachother.
I’ve made videos on the process before I think, but I’ll be making a thorough video on this particular project seeing how it took four years to finish and the project also went through three models of iPads.
I know what you mean. In the case of this one it was the drums that held me back. So frustrating.
I’ll tell you this’s I had a huge amount of fun doing this project but I’m going to have to service the old TC800D. It’s been stored properly while unused, but prior to that it was used ... a lot.
It used to belong to my uncle and he was a real audiophile (vinyl and cassette lover). He took good care of his stuff but this one has been working a lot and so there’s a lot of stuff that needs cleaning, oiling and tuning up.
But I’ll probably have a lot of fun with that too.
