  • No one has seen this coming. Wow. Next stop AU<3

  • Funny how I dusted down this classic last night and reminded myself how good it is :)

  • Looks like Rolf got some time to spend on iOS now that the hardware synth is done.
Hopefully Attack will get some love too :)

  • That's great Waldorf are back, hopefully with more too :)

  • Seems to be some love for Nave, I better check it out.

  • This is a great synth with some really nice animated visualisation options but I think they need to get rid of the screen "shine" which kind of ruins it.
These fake glass reflections are really off-putting :)

  • I was holding off on this because I thought Waldorf abandoned it. Ugh. Now I know I’m going to get it.

Anyone care to report on bug fixes?

I certainly spent good times withNave but an Attack AU would really fill a void in the landscape for me. I so want an AU drum synth that is not step locked. Sounds like Drambo may somehwat accomodate this with some sort of blended transition feature (?) but the Attack engine with full on automation and solid AU midi, oh man, drool. I would even buy it all over again.

Would you buy Nave now again? Knowing what you do about current synth apps?

  • I would easily by Nave again if it gained AUv3 support!
Heck bring on Nave 2 with one extra regular oscillator for some crazy sync, ring and cross mod options :D

    Excellent question!

Nave design is still from pre-iOS 7 times. You can be happy there are no wooden side panels attached ;)

Woot, no comment about lacking anti-alias on the lines ;)

No, I mean... errr... nowadays it's more difficult to draw lines WITHOUT antialiasing than WITH it :D

Sounds absolutely great, robust clock, midi learn, program changes, and stable.
I personally don't care about 80's UI, I take it as part of the charm here.
As long as it works like a real synth, and as long as audience is still using speakers or headphones... ;)
If only Apple gave state saving for IAA, but that's not up to Waldorf...

  • I like wooden side panels! I can’t be alone either, EBay is full of wooden side panels for recent hardware

  • I like wooden panels too, I'm going to get wooden panels for my ipad, but I don't need them in the apps ;)

If the sound engine were, uhhh, kicked up a notch with oversampling etc I would consider it as I do find it nice to program.

  • @Carnbot I recently got wooden side panels for my wooden side panels, but the desk didn't fit in the room anymore so I removed the wooden side panels from the desk (and the room). ;)

I wish more apps were like Groove Rider and allowed you to customise the appearance of the UI. That way those who like wood and skeuomorphic UIs could have it and those that prefer flat could have that.

  • Love grabbing the A,D,S and R then spreading the fingers out. The distortion, arpeggiator and reverb are undersong heroes too. Very happy to have state saving in my life!

Just did. Bought originally with an earlier ID which no longer (TOO LONG A STORY>>>>>>)....so, yeah. And happy to.

Whoa, I wasn’t going to buy Nave and then you go and do this??

  • @gusgranite It is a lovely grown toy. Just throwing it into AUM with StepPolyArp makes me happy. Of course I have to go around and dig out the various extra banks. I found the Red Sky one easily enough.....class piece of work.

I should probably give context and mention that Missus Goodyear just sent me a text from New York City where under the guise of a wedding shower she is essentially shopping for a couple of days so fighting the power with 20 bucks of synth feels like the least I can do etc. YMMV.

Don’t forget, I once did a highly popular WTFKnobs on Nave, but only three of the knobs (it was in fact my first WTFKnobs).

Just use any unquantized sequencer with any drumsynth. E.g. if you drive Ruismaker or DM2 with Cubasis’ or Auria’s internal sequencer you’re not steplocked at all, or am I missing something?

Yeah. I figured I may be using the term inaccurately and someone would correct me but that would get the discussion going anyway. For me DM2 isn’t step locked in that I can adjust parameters and hear them take affect at any point even between when A step is triggered however with Ruismaker it seems that the step is triggered with the parameters it reads at the time of the step triggering and they do not adjust post step triggering if that makes sense. So for example a pitch adjustment in Ruismaker would never create a pitch bend effect where as in DM2 it does. But also DM2 is not an Au. Again I may be using the term wrong but please enlighten me if there is a better one to use.

    +1

  • Nave was my first “true love” synth. I felt like I could really do what I wanted to do.

I wish they had added Ableton link, and improved wavetable management.
