Battery drain on standby with background audio
I wonder how many of you are as pissed off as me every time I found my iPad completely dead because battery was drained by some app that had background audio turned on all the time.
I know I can manually close the app and I always try to do it but of course, I sometime forget. Then I want to use the iPad to find out that I need to charge it to be able to use it.
I am mostly using BeatMaker3 which does not have option to turn background audio off. But last time it was AudioKit Synth One, I didn't even know it can drain the battery.
Really there is no other way how to "force" to not run in background while iPad is sleeping? (at least after some time, e.g. 1 hour...?). I know Apple should do something with that but I am also appealing on developers to always implement this option if they use background audio, as it is really annoying. Not to mention that constantly draining battery to 0 reduces its lifespan significantly...

Yes this is so annoying, the other day my battery seemed to die early and when I checked it said Synthmaster Player had used 30% of the battery and I didn't even remember when I had used it.
Ive been doing the force all to quit trick more often lately. Hold power button down until "slide to power off" comes up, then hold the home button until that screen goes away. This force quits everything that is running without having to restart.
This is usually hardcoded or turned as ON by default with an option to turn it off in apps that support IAA (eg: GeoShred - turned on every time we open the app!) as they need to produce sound in the background when the focus is switched to the host app or if the app is developed using Juce framework that doesn't support turning background audio on/off at runtime (eg: Syntorial) where it is hardcoded as always ON. As per the Syntorial's dev, they are coming up with their Primer AU by the end of the year at which time, the IAA in Syntorial will be unsupported and background audio turned off in the code.
As a side note, Cubasis 2.5 introduced a new feature recently that does NOT drain battery even if we leave Background Audio ON. I notice the battery at 100% before going to bed at night with Background Audio ON, wake up in the morning and the battery is still at 100%. Kudos to @Lars and his team for this effort! This is a huge benefit/advantage to users (the way it should work) and hope other devs implement this feature in their apps too.

This is what I like about AUs - they don’t need background audio in either apps (AU or host), can have more than one AU track and they give editable MIDI. IAA into GB gives audio.
Just turned on my iPad to find that Patterning and Xequencer had been running in the background and weren't even on - they just came on with a quick play through AB3 and loading a saved state that had them. I don't like how apps that might be running simply don't show up in the task switcher. Oh well I think I better just get used to force quit every time I run a music related app.
Do yourself a huge favor and take it one step further. Force quit all apps, then hold the power button down until the power-off slider appears, but don’t slide it. Next hold the Home button down until you’re returned to the home screen. This does a more thorough job of killing background processes. It only takes a moment, and becomes habit in time. I’m convinced this is why I seem to experience fewer odd problems and battery drain issues than other people.
