Korg Mono Poly for Gadget 50% off until 26th Aug 2018

Just a note for people to consider getting this great addition to Gadget while it’s on sale.

It’s not for everyone (but more complex than most gadgets), but personally i think it’s the best and most powerful synth you can get inside Gadget. And it sounds great as well as being very, very low CPU. I just can’t believe how efficient they’ve made it!

Just as an example of what you can do, I made this track:

https://choon.co/tracks/0zrbq01j64u/a-greater-wave

...only using multiple instances (12 of them) of Montpellier (as it’s called inside Gadget). And 2 instances of London for drums.

Almost all of the sounds you hear are factory presets actually.

I made this on an iphone6s and it didn’t really struggle at all, even at the points where it’s playing most of those instances at the same time.

Just thought people might be interested in a view on this synth before the sale ends. I’m a big fan of this one.

(Some basic EQ and compression added to the master afterwards).

I just wish it was possible to share presetes between the Gadget and Stand-Alone. I have imported well over 2000 presets to the stand-alone and wish to access them inside Gadget too :)

Wow. I didn’t realise you could import Korg Mono/Poly presets to the standalone app. Where do they come from?

Some of them come from the Desktop Legacy Collection and are completely different than those that come with the app.

Direct link to the zip archive with the patches.

    (That's an additional 256 presets for iMono/Poly)

More can be found with a bit of Google Searching ;)

  • Thanks Samu. I guess there’s always meticulously copying the settings for any really special preset over to Gadget.

I won't go that far. I had hopes that the 'Import' in Mono/Poly Gadgets preset browser would be able to read the files but nah....

Somehow I prefer to use the Mono/Poly in Gadget since all the buttons are bigger compared to the stand alone app and for my eyes it's easier to use :)

  • IMono/poly is probably my favourite iOS synth (that I own).

And yes - there are some awesome free patches out there that I too really wish you could import to gadget!!

Yeah, same here for both apps.
Come on Korg. This can be done with iWaveStation. So what’s the holdup?

  • Cool track, makes me want to do some DnB. This is my fav Gadget. Looking forward to trying the patches @samu found.

  • Thanks @espiegel123 - very kind of you.

  • I dig @Matt_Fletcher_2000 's track as well. We seem to have similar tastes in MonoPoly patches, although his writing is more creative than mine.

It's my favorite synth Gadget by far.

  • I dig this track!! Nice one @Matt_Fletcher_2000

Thanks. And you should! I’d be really keen to hear the result.

Maybe use Stockholm for chopped up breakbeats?

  • I’m thinking of either getting Mono Poly or Module with the Orchestral Dreams IAP to use in Gadget. I’ve got iSymphonic but often use Zeeon for string and brass pad sounds.. I’m wanting to be able to do something similar within Gadget for the advantage of more instances and automation.

What’s the instance limitation for both in Gadget? And for anyone that has both, which would you recommend?

  • Mono Poly is very efficient. I’ve had something like 12 instances in a track I made on an iPhone 6sPlus (see link to it at the top of the thread).

I don’t use the module orchestral stuff really, so I can’t say for sure, but I’d wager it’s heavier on cpu so you would be able to have fewer siMultanious instances of that.

Bear in mind though, Mono Poly lets you control the number of voices it’s using, and this has a big impact on how cpu intensive it is.
