  • Ah, looks good.
Is it full screen AU? Volt needs an update scaling the AU as it's a bit small on a 12.9, wonder if it's the same case here.

  • I will check this out for sure

  • is it out? any app store links?

  • Sounds good, but the saturation gets out of hand pretty easily. I guess tape echoes are relatively unwieldy in the first place as far as effects go. The sample feature is neat. That’s about all I have to say on it.

  • Interesting.....does it have degradation features....like instant Boards of Canada......if so I need it.

i wonder if its possible to to set the tape loop overdub to a specific bar length

    You can 😁

sounds cool, is it universal app, or ipad only?

It's got a good wow, flutter, tape hiss, with an extra adjustment of the hiss color... so yes. :)

Only iPad at launch, but the dev says he plans for it to be universal

  • Check out the time stretch feature for loaded samples... either the ones that come with it or user saved. :)

I think that part needs a 'demo'(ie. the saving and using samples part).
Sooner or later I will get this one too and the 3 4Pockets things once I get me some more gift-cards...

    Here's the app's site: http://numericalaudio.com/re1/

    Here's the store link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/re-1/id1407764053?ls=1&mt=8

Lastly... he doesn't mention it in the description, but I believe that price is a 50% off launch sale. I don't know how long the sale will last before it goes up.

It's pretty easy. You have to scroll up to see the "Save Table Loop" or something like that. You can export your samples out by selecting Edit, then selecting the sample. And you can also "Open In" from AudioShare to get other samples into it.

Cool, crazy me wonders also if 'Pitch-Bend' can be used to control tape-speed/direction (Pitch Bend at centre tape is 'stoped' Negative Pitch Bend for reverse playback Positive Pitch Bend forward playback).

Oh well, time will tell if/when I get this one...

  • Would like to see a video for the looper options, having Audiolayer and Klevgr Tape AU and other AU delays like Kosmonaut, maybe I won’t need it. But it does look good :)

Building up tracks via over dub is pretty fun. The time stretch is pretty special too. Wow/Flutter can be stronger than the Klevgr. The stereo effect dial is pretty nice too. It's really it's own, brand new animal in this regard. I really wanted the Klevgr, but it doesn't go far enough for me. Was going to get FlyTape, but the beta for this came along and ticked all the right boxes for me, etc. Saving samples into the app, import/export of samples, and the Time Stretch thing is pretty cool too. :)

I don't get exactly what you're asking for... but I can confirm that pretty much all of the AU control parameters are exposed... so bet you could via external control.

    Heresy.

  • Another fun thing is saving your sample, then reload your sample and Time Stretch. Then reverse hit the reverse button, and then start overdubbing another synth, or drums on top of that while still in reverse mode. Lots of fun creative options without having to watch a bunch of demos or reading a manual. Most everything is pretty clear and intuitive.

  • Full disclosure... I'd asked the dev about something like this. A tape looper that was AU, that did a bit more than the other few that had just come out. I'd been playing with a Sony portable cassette player I picked up in a thrift shop and had made my own 5sec tape loops out of all cassettes. Making the tape loops was way more tedious than the YouTube videos made it look. ;) The player/recorder also has a speed dial on playback. So, I was kind of looking for something that did that in an app.

Then, Numerical drops this beta that was everything I was looking for, and then he kept added extra functions and features I haven't even thought of that made it even more fun. I couldn't really get very good wow/flutter wobble from the real cassette attempts... only lots of saturation and tape hiss.

At the end of the day, it almost feels like a custom app that's everything I was wanting and more. That's likely why I'm so evangelical about it. Might not be for everyone, but for my needs... it's definitely the cat's meow. :)

Think 'jog wheel' when editing video scrolling forward and back at different speeds while previewing what's under the playhead or if 'scratching a record' :)

  • Bought it, Its pretty cool. Found a few few midi assignments missing in the AUv3 that are present in standalone. Seems to not like 24bit audio files that I imported but worked fine for the 16bit ones. Although there are 24bit samples in the factory library.

Seems also no real way to import samples in the AUv3 that I saw. You can save what you have on the playhead inside the AUv3 version. I tried importing samples in standalone hoping it would update the database for the AUv3 but it didn't.

  • @Samu I understand what you are wanting. There is a WARP option exposed but it only warps in the direct it is currently playing. The playhead direction is controlled by a toggle button, either reversed or not reversed.

  • are there any videos of this in action yet? i’m not getting a clear picture of what it can do

  • @eross @thesoundtestroom has one up on his channel. I figure I will see if I can't get one up today as well.

Doug has one, but it looks like he’s basically mostly showing the echo stuff. I bet @djpuzzle has one in the works. I don’t do demos, but I might record a session and see if I get anything decent enough to share ;)

  • Wonderful app. Here comes the dub!

I thought you’d dig it. ;) Funny thing is, I hardly use the echo stuff that much. Mostly play with overdubbing, reverse, time stretches, and the wow/flutter/hiss/stereo adjustments. Also like a tough of saturation & tweaking treble/bass in the app

  • Brilliant app for ambient stuff. Here‘s what I got from a few hours playing with it:
