On the fence about buying Kamata (in Gadget) before the sale ends? Demo track.
Some people been saying they are on the fence about getting Kamata in the Korg sale (IAP synth for Gadget).
Here's track that shows how it can be made NOT to sound all chip tune...
https://choon.co/tracks/0tpc7br7cc4/short-walk-home-kamata-demo
4 instances of Kamata, some Gadget insert FX and some Gadget drums (Tokyo and London).
Hope this is of interest if you're considering buying Kamata before the sale ends (26th Aug I believe).
Thoughts appreciated...

I got it when it came out, though honestly, I don’t really use it. I should really give it a good go though because it’s got some REALLY interesting parameters. It does NOT sound like Kingston, to me at least. They’re pretty distinct for anyone wondering
Sounds a bit like a young teen sci-fi series theme (Careful Karen, I think that alien wants a snog... kind of thing).
That was, of course, exactly what I was going for.
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 killing it again.
Bloody ripper track mate. Reminds me of the "chillout" genre with a lofi feel. I also never knew Choon existed. Cool beans.
Do you have an App budget? Is there any money left in the budget?
I find Kingston a little better. Because of the complex waveforms you get harmonics with kamata. To compare the two Kingston sounds like Pac-Man from the 80s and Kamata like a Super Nintendo or game boy from the 90s.
If you know the music and sound effects from early-to-mid 80s Namco arcade games like Dig Dug, Mappy, Xevious, Super Pac Man, etc., that is exactly what Kamata sounds like. Kingston is more of an NES soundchip kinda thing.
That’s pretty great, Matt. I like the grit on those synths a lot. I feel like I never want synths to actually refer to synths but to kind of sound broken or possibly some other treated sound. This works for me. Thanks for the demo.
Thanks people. Glad you enjoyed.
Erm... when it comes to Gadget I tend to buy everything (apart from some of the add ons for module). I just can’t help myself because it’s my main tool.
Otherwise I’ve tried to stop buying so many apps (there was a time when owned almost everything). These days if it doesn’t work on iPhone it’s unlikely I’ll buy a new app (although I did get SynthMaster One).
You a big spender?
Great wee track, added you on choon. (IDXXIII)
I have gadget on my phone, I might grab a couple of the extras I don’t have whilst the sale is on... thanx for the nudge!

You beat me to it. And you rocked, sir!
BTW, I still use your TB Midi Gadget Randomizer, @Matt_Fletcher_2000
How the hell did I miss that thread? I should hang around here more often. Cheers mate.
Nice track! Ok, adding Kamata to the list of Gadgets to add, along with Vancouver and DeeMax
Here‘s a cover song I made with ten instances of Kamata and nothing else a while ago.
I have never used it again. But is was fun as long as it lasted...
Here it is... a quickie. Gonna work it more on something bigger
Tokyo / Kamata / Kingston
Yummy
Thanks @id_23 @senhorlampada @GovernorSilver @jwmmakerofmusic @AndyPlankton
Kamata is surprisingly versatile. Top tip is to modulate the waveform by redrawing it while record is enabled - over long evolving notes. This modulation of the waveform itself will be recorded as automation and can be tweaked in the midi automation.
It makes it a bit like the Scythe synth.
F---in hell! That's insane! Thanks for the tip mate.
